If so, then cant have em all I guess

I would have to buy a new TV since the one I would have to use the PS3 on is crappy, buy the PS3 and a wireless router....bah MONEYZ
Quote from ATC Quicksilver :Rockstar have said they doubt they will even make a version for the PC, and they are not even thinking about it yet. So you could be waiting years for it, rather than months.

would be retarded.
although my current pc wont be able to run id get it.
i rather build a new pc than buying a console for a single game. (would be cheaper too in the end )
Look at it this way - if you buy a console (which is cheaper than a new PC), it's going to have the hardware to play every game released for it, until the next console comes out. That's a guaranteed 7 years away on the PS3 at least, Sony have officially said. Find me a PC cheaper than a console, that will last a guaranteed 7 years of being able to play HD games at full graphics settings comfortably. Oh wait...

That's how i think about it.. I upgraded my PC 3, 4 months ago, and that costed me 550 euros, and i can't even play new games in high detalils, can't imagine how it would handle the GTA, or Mafia II..
I'm thinking like, all new, proper games, would be released for all 3 platforms, or they would be console exclusives, (litlle big planet, God of War 3 comes to mind), the PC gaming is kinda dying.. and you are good to go at least 5 years till the next console comes out, not worying about the details, drivers and other stuff..

PC are still much better for complex strategic game/simulations though, and most importantly you can customized content quite easily.

the only thing that is truely bring PC gaming down is just the ease of piracy.

the ps3 for example is more expensive than a new pc (at least for the hardware ive choosen, which isnt high end, but pretty good).
cheapest ps3 ive found is 350€, id build my pc (if id have the money...) for just under 300€ (including everything, from motherboard to coolers).

so, the price argument fails right there
and it doesnt have the hardware for coming games, they just code it for the hardware, so u can get more with less.
on a pc u will most likely still get better results tho.(graphic wise...if u got proper hardware )

ive had my pc now for over 4 years with only small upgrades (duron 1600 to athlon xp 2600+, radeon 9200se to geforce 7600gs) and it still does run all the games that i want to play with acceptable framerates.

another thing what makes a console wasted money is that u can barely do anything than play with it.

anyway...im not bashing it, ive always been a playstation fan, but in this case i wont get one (and i doubt ill get one as a present ) as its simply not not any good for just 1 game.
btw the games are hell expensive too! (60€ at least :really

uhm yea.
long post

I can't believe that, unless you make a point of avoiding modern games. Some games I have both on PC and Xbox 360, and my PC struggles to match the Xbox, and its much higher spec than yours.

What else did you want a games console to do, make toast and give you chirpy conversation?

Quote :btw the games are hell expensive too! (60€ at least :really

The only console game I've paid full retail for is GTA:IV. Every other game I've got for £25 or under.

Rrrrright... As i said, 550 euros (ok, minus 60, 70 for the HDD), and i've only played COD4 on High details (but not max res, 133x770, instead my native 1680x1050), Crysis... yea right, medium/low, 25 fps at best (and i haven't even completed the first level, that's how crappy it is to me, eye candy doesn't make the game good)..
Assasins's Creed stuttered like crazy on mostly medium and some high details..

The point is, i can't play CURENT PC games without worriying about performance, let alone the new games, or the games at the end of the year or 2009...
PS3 is not XBOX or PC, it's a whole different structure, and i bet we will see mindblowing games in the 2009, not to mention the years after...
Hell, God of War 1 and 2, on PS2, looked stunning! on the freakin' PS2! how old is that console anyway? You see my point?
The 2 graphics cards in the PS3 are worth €200 each or something ridiculous if you were to buy them separately...It can be used for lots of other things. I've put XP as a dual-boot onto it (emulated through linux). It has a net browser. It plays DVDs, Blu-Rays (a Blu-Ray player drive for a PC is €150, at least) and it has a media center for music, photos and videos. It has an online friends system, which if you like can be used as MSN.

There, what can a PC do that this can't?

Also, I've received a free PC a couple of months ago, when my granny upgraded (damn that makes me sound cheap :schwitz. It wasn't too bad when I got it, it was only 3 years old. I've spent €400 so far on getting it to the same spec as an average gaming system today. That's more expensive than a console, plus it still doesn't play good games smoothly...Whereas I have a guarantee that my console will never need to be upgraded in the next 7 years...

Can I see the specs of your PC under €300, that is guaranteed to never need to be upgraded for the next 7 years, and still play the latest games in full HD, all graphics options maxed?
For sure the PS3 isnt actually expensive....price up a blue-ray player, a PC with the sameish potential in spec, a media centre etc....its a bargain....and I am not being sarcastic.

As already stated above though the PS3 doesnt have many good games, GTA IV....granted.....not worth the price of the console on its own, GT5....hmmm its good....LFS is better and I already have that, what else? COD4, already have that and it looks beautiful on my computer.

What exactly am I missing from the PS3 against the PC? Nothing, just GTA IV, which is good but not great, console games come to an end but I am still playing Quake III arena on my PC, a game I played back when I was still playing final fantasy back on my PS1.

This is the PC era of gaming, where they care about the gameplay and gamer needs (Except EA obviously), and I think LFS is a shining example
Yes, there aren't many games. And yes, they are ridiculously overpriced. But I'd still rather spend my money on games (even if they a bit rare) than hardware (Yes, I could buy a GPU for my PC for the same money as a new game, but meh!)

BTW, I'm still playing FFVII...absolute epic game, I'm nearly finished!

There, what can a PC do that this can't?

Real photo processing? Real video editing?

How about 3d modeling? Can I easily take it out to the garage to pull up stuff on the net while I am working on the car? Can it easily surf the net, get my emails, allow me to do my taxes, balance my checkbook?

Though it can do stuff that you can do on a PC, it's just not feasible to do all that with a PS3 controller over a computer, keyboard, and mouse.

If you want to just game, and maybe surf a little web, sure, the PS3 is fine. If you want to do serious computer work, and game a little bit, then the PC is the way to go.

I race LFS and fly FS9. That's all the gaming I do. Thus, $600 for a console + $60 for GTA is quite an expensive game. I already have a computer for doing other stuff, so why wouldn't I rather use the PC as a gaming platform for all the gaming I actually do.

They stopped making consoles reasonably priced back with the Sega Genesis system, which my 7 year old has a blast with still

Get off your rocker and buy a PS3...

Also, mouse and keyboard are both available for the PS3. I have a keyboard, but no mouse yet (although I have plugged in my mouse to see if it would work, it did), the controller is a good mouse. I can surf the web, check my mail and watch all the porn I want, with ease.
Well you can install another OS (Sony provides an option for it, no hacking/homebrew needed), so it can do anything a PC can do really (Only better due to it's uber-hardware :razz

And it has 4 USB ports, so you can put in a keyboard and a mouse. They work in the PS3's native browser too

Which would stand true if it wasn't for the 256MB RAM limitation.
Hoping someone wouldn't bring that up It can be upgraded easily anyway...

Not so easily from what I read - in fact I've yet to find a single article of someone actually having upgraded their RAM and made it usable under Linux. There sure are a lot of people looking for just that.

Not to mention that by design it's crippled when running Linux as it does this in virtualization mode with a few restrictions to start with.
get over with it. PS3 and Xbox sux!

PC owned, and will still be owning!
Today i tried Race for the first time, how n00b some people is. I mean, my 1st race and i win ... wtf?
I tought it would be competitive, im not fast.

Are you 13 or something?
Download some gameplay videos of God Of War 1, or 2... Tell me the graphics sux... and btw, those games are on PS2!, that uses 243 mhz processor...
PS3 has plenty of horse power for beautiful games.. It's about creativity, art, dedication, and proper hardware use..
One more reason I don't play console games. I have 1 decent television and 1 decent place to use a television. The computer is mine, the TV is the wife's. She allows me to confiscate the TV for hockey games. Else, she gets the TV, which has always been fine by me. I rarely watch TV unless I'm extremely bored or we watch a movie together.
Aha, I use the same TV for gaming, TV and as a monitor...It's a real cheap 19", but it has VGA, S-video, HDMI and standard TV cable. It was cheaper than a Dell dedicated monitor too

No not really, I just dont like to spend that much money for "games" and every thing that belongs to it.

Don't know about the PS3, but the Xbox 360 will easily output to any vga screen at a compatible resolution, no excuse
