Insim doesn't initialize (TCP error)
Hi everyone,

I've searched for half an hour on these forums, but I didn't find the answer to my question ^^.

When I try to open any InSim port (with the /insim ##### command), it says : InSim - TCP : bind failed / Insim : not initialised.

It's starting getting on my nerves, so I'd really appreciate if someone had a clue

Thanks !
What are you trying to do, run an existing InSim application or make your own? My guess is you type /insim XXXXX and then never run the insim application - or that port is already used by something on your computer.
This used to happen me. I found changing the Port number for LFS fixed it. No idea why though
Its probably because something else was running on that same port number already.
My LFS was on 27010 as default, and I had tried to initialise 31000 for InSim. I checked Windows Firewall, and nothing was using that port. But I changed LFS' port to 54010, and now it works fine. It's an LFS bug, as I wouldn't let me initialise any InSim port (I tried a good few) while it was running on 27010...
No, i just want to run an InSim app (I don't have programming skills ^^).

I've tried changing the Master Port in the LFS cfg.txt file as you did, and still the same error for all ports
I don't know if thats an LFS bug, doubt it actually, but it does sound strange. Maybe you had opened that port up before and the computer still thought it was being used even though it wasn't, or maybe something strange is up with 27010 on your computer. Either way you fixed yours and Zen is asking the question so lets hope he fixes it by changing the port.
Go to Multiplayer --> Start new host, and change the port there. You don't need to start a new host, just go back after changing it there...

It's really odd. On the family PC, which is where I had LFS installed first, it worked fine using 27010. Then, when I got my laptop, I put LFS on, which was also on 27010 by default. The laptop gave TCP error when trying to open an InSim port, whether or not it was networked to the family PC. My new gaming PC also has LFS, using 27010, and has no problems opening a port.

Which got me thinking the laptop was broken. But then I changed the port, and it was fine again. It makes no sense really. But hey, that's computing
Nope, this still doesn't work :S

My multiplayer port was 63392, I tried 3 other ports (59392, 27010, 54010), and the InSim error still appears. Moreover I can't create a new host : I get the error "TCP Socket - Bind Failed".

So after putting those two errors together, I guess it's more a problem of connexion with the TCP. Any idea of how to fix it ?

MAJOR EDIT : Okay i've fixed it

In the multiplayer/create a new server page, I chose "Auto IP assignation" (putting nothing in the "IP adress" field), then I didn't have any problem to create a server. Once I was in the track, I could open any InSim port

So, just remove the IP adress you manually entered, and it's gonna be fine
Glad you fixed it! Out of curiosity, was the IP you had entered a valid one? I've had trouble connecting directly to local IPs from LFS, even though they are on the same network...
I guess it was a valid one yeah... at least one authorized by my router...

I also have such a problem . Tried everything from here, also I've searched if any port which i'm using for LFS Director is in use(netstat -an in console). Is there any kind of trick with cfg file?

BTW. LfsRelax works just fine.

NVM... IT WORKS . I've changed to port 8999 and it suddenly works O.o. Good
