The worst case scenario happened: When the ****ing **** mother****er removed the radio, he made a short-circuit. All wires has been melted, all electronic circuit fried, battery exploded and thus destroying almost everything in engine room.
I spent years wracked with guilt over what I did whilst being the victim of a very violent crime, and that was in self defence. Don't make the same mistake.
I have no more faith in the police than you, but there are reasonable limits beyond which you become the thing you despise.
funny, went through it until it said it was tracking me (which it could have done instantly) but something about that was unnerving and I cancelled, you should see the options for method :P
Well.. I selected myself and I only got options about how I should die. The checkout also didnt charge me, although said that it would be collected from myself upon delivery... Seems a bit arse about tit.
Anyway, if I die from an accidental death in a 2-4 weeks then you know why...
Man, just got redirected. I feel for you, I say the entire LFS Forum hunt these bar-stewards down and slowly torture them with Microsoft Error Messages and baseball bats
I dunno, I had the joy of driving one once.
Nah, Insurance companies always payout low, I was offered £500 for my CR-X when the front end was torn off in a car park, ironically, though, I rebuilt it for £400.... (not including 2 weeks labour)
I think I forgot to mention what the jerk used to pick the lock. He used Leathermann. And SAW-blade! It was cut in the process. Inspector found the blade inside the lock.
Guess what it did to the lock? Yes, you guessed it right. Wasted.
He used "more civilized" tools to "pick" the lock of rear trunk: Don't know exactly what, but he must have also used hammer! The lock is bent. Or in other words: Wasted!
Why can't people get into the cars not destroying anything..?
I saw flame thrower car alarm video in the 90's. I could install that to my next project car (944 Turbo S [Price: Priceless. 1000 pcs were ever made], 951 [Depends on the quality. 15-20k eur] or 70's 911 [Purely depends on the quality. From "Will not start" 10k eur up to 80k eur]).
Funniest thing is that he can't change that radio/casette player to drugs. Nobody would buy that peace of s*** (Well, if they don't know the actual value of it. PS. I want to buy original 944 casette-player and cd-changer. I will buy 3000 euros).
Edit: Some may question my empathy to this car. Sure, I used it in slalom, but I treated it really well (Slow RPM. Never went over 7000). But the other thing you haven't heard. My best moments in my life was when I one morning decided to drive a little bit. I opened the GPS, selected random place (Blindfolded) on the map and drove over 1000km that day. Took of my targa-roof, enjoyed the absolutely wonderful weather, listened good music, enjoyed and relax. When I was in that location, decided to stretch my legs in the middle of nowhere. Took coffee from my thermos and listened the birds singing and even saw couple of mooses. After awhile started my engine again and drove home (And not the fastest way possible). When the sun set down, I parked my car into a cliff. Watched when the sun went down and fell asleep to that very place. When I woke up, stars were shining. Started my engine again and drove the quiet roads back to my home where my (common-law) wife were waiting in a warm bed.
These are the moments I want to live again and again. Unfortunately, I am afraid that not with this beauty.
Yes, it is a front engined "cheap mans" Porsche. Still, it was my beauty. My life work. It changed me. I started to respect old(ish) items. Nowadays I despise new sports car. They only tell something about the owners willie-size.
I feel sorry for you, I know that it is big pain what comes when some idiot junkie ruins your car. And Porsche 944 is one of those cars I wouldn't want to get ruined never. It always gets my blood boiling when I read about great car getting nicked or something.
Heck, junkies or whatever did stole a 20€ worth CD player from my car and still I felt like I want to beat them up badly, so I really understand those feelings you got there. Not because of that 20€ player, just because I knew how low-morale and disrespectful they are when it comes to other peoples property. People like that could have some use for lesson.
When they got in to my car, they did go there thru from trunk (it was open already, lock wasn't working then). When trunk was up those gas springs what keep it up did get loose and trunk came down fast, probably scared the shit out them, maybe that's why they didn't take those speakers from trunk. But I felt disappointed when I didn't find blood or fingers of that **** up from my trunk. Or his head...
Tried to asnwer a question I thought you meant. I have filled dozens of papers and forms, sent them criss-cross around from police-station to insurance company. The inspector took some photos and shrugged his head. He said that the burglar wasn't very talented: Picking a lock with a saw, cutting every one wire he could find, still ripping glove compartment down even it wasn't locked... He was almost as shocked I am.
Don't know when I get the results, but I have couple of more forms which I'll have to carry to the insurance company.
First off, I agree, that sounds like a fantastic day... I actually had a similar encounter (without the wife) in my old Spitfire....
But mate, whether the car was originally aimed at the mass production British "we'll buy anything that looks remotely sporty" market (my Spitfire) or whether it's a 1 of 200 Jag XJ220 sports car, no one here will question your empathy if you enjoyed driving it. I personally preferred the front engined Porsches over the rear engined ones. I hope you get a car you can enjoy just as much, and that they find, hang, draw and quarter the bar stewards who did this to your car.
NOTE: You used GPS to find this random location? I used a map for mine.....
I didn't know there was crime or junkies in the European socialist utopia.
Doesn't the govenment pay for their drugs? Why do they need to steal?
I understand your anger. I would be really angry too. You should buy one of those alarms that beeps you when your car alarm goes off. They're cheap. My sister's boyfriend has one. And you should never be more than a couple of minutes away from your car.
Your experience convinced me to get one of those alarms too.
Or maybe buy a fake replica cobra and leave it on your car seat when you're away
Now when the things have calmed down (Nope, still nothing new to report about the insurance...), I was thinking that if I repair the car, but I won't re-restore it... I would install rollcages, 6-point harnesses, safety switches and anything else required for Porsche Racing Cup (Instead of Slalom Cup, it has much more strict rules about the car because there are more than one car at a time on the track).
It would be desperate action to save some part of the car, because now I'll have no chance to get the museum license plates (Well, of course it is possible, but the damages are from 10000 eur to 15000 eur, so no point at all).
That might be a good idea. Consider it to be "lightweight" and race-prep it...as you say, it would be cheaper than restoring it to original...At least the car could still live on
