keeping track of setups
Hi guys,

I was just wondering. how do you keep track of all your different set ups? i tried a couple diff sets last night from other racers. but even now im confused already as to which ones were for which tracks etc...

do u name setups starting with track code
Yep, something like ASClub_Race and ASClub_Qualifying. When i tweak setups i usually do it on another copy, like ASClub_Test, in case i screw it up.
I'm not a setup guru, so I mostly have only two sets for each car -- one "fast" set with strong brakes and high gear ratios, and one "slow" one (for more winding circuits). The only thing I tweak is the camber + pressure based on what track it is. Only takes 30 seconds before a race. I never touch the suspension or anything like that -- that's best left to the experts.
^ Exactly the same as me. I change a 'base' setup to suit the track im about to race. I usually change downforce, gear ratios and camber. Takes awhile to get used to it, but you will eventually learn to tweak those WR setups to suit yourself.

yes

so for example..

if you were driving at Aston Club and I sent you a setup - It would make sense to call it AS2_dru

Then, if you messed with it then you would make a new file in the setup screen and call it AS2_dru_tweek and there you can play around with it and not losing the original setup

On the whole I would then adopt the system outlined above sayind

AS2_Q or AS2_R (for qualiy and race)

At the moment say I might have the following

AS2_moose
AS2_moose_HD (high downforce as I can not control the low downforce sent)
AS2_moose_tyres (where i have changed the settings because I'm easier on the tyres (also a lot slower btw :P)
AS2_moose_locked (diff sets)
AS2_moose_55_65 (alt diff sets)

Then when I'm happy I'll change it to

AS2_Dru

And from that make a Q set and a race set

At the end of it all I will then delete the sets i don't need to keep (so just keeping the original AS2_moose set and my Q and R sets.

If you are doing leagues or events where you use restriction etc, then the naming would also change.

For instance,

in my FZR sets I have GT1 and GT2 sets for CTRA

They will start GT1_ or GT2_ but of course you then get less words/characters to play with.

etc etc

Hope this helps/makes sense

Regards,

Dru.
ja thats good stuff... thanks, i suppose i just need to get abbreviations for all the tracks as a starting point! but thanks guys, that helps a stack!
type "/w pb" in the chat or hit the default F-key bind for it (mine is changed, can't remember default) and LFS will display your PB at the track stating the abreviated form of the track name.

Or, print out the list from the LFS Wiki and tape it to the wall next to you.
I like to have the best setup for each track. I name them like KYLongR, or WesthR, and if its not mine, at the end i put the name of the person that gave it to me, like SOClassicR blb.
For Quali and Race i basicaly just change tyres R2 to R3 etc.
