im begining to enjoy this sim since using a clutch
i had my concerns since i had played race07 and it was so different to lfs, both simulation of reality but theres just one reality, both sims should be the same

but now i have a clutch driving reminds me of my bike times, its so similar

great sim

A tip to improve more. If your current clutch operates over full travel you should get DXTweak and adjust so its only over 1/3 of the travel nearer the top, more like a real clutch.

Helps with miss shifts etc
thanks for the tip about DXTweak...I've heard about it a few times and finally tried it

I can actually take off from a stop like I would in a real car now :P

Before the bite point was like less than a cm it seemed. Now I actually have some modulation

Yep, makes a huge difference, lets your foot operate in more natural way
Hmm that DXTweak sounds interesting, I should try it. After patch Y came out I have been thinking that clutch feels really too soft, not like in a real sport car.
Why not just calibrate the clutch to saturate at 1/3 travel?
Why I haven't thought about that.

From within LFS? I tried that a while back and it worked for a bit but would reset its self back to the original full distance of travel upon restarting LFS.

problem setting up the clutch within the game
i used dx tweak so every time i step on the pedal fully it just runs 2/3 input, you can see in the control panel of joystick it works, but when i jump into the game it seems to recalibrate the axe so the imput goes to full

how can i solve it so every time i step on the clutch it just runs 2/3 as programmed with dxtweak?

Just click "lock calibration" or whatever it's called when you're done calibrating.
You can try to recalibrate it in LFS on 2/3 range and then locking up the calibration.
LFS cannot override DxTweak settings, the yellow bars show the input DirectX reports, not the raw pedal input. Check ingame if the clutch actually behaves like you want (the yellow bar should reach 100% before your pedal does), I think it should.
i pay attention to the right botton corner pedals

whats odd is that i can set it up so the clutch is always slightly pressed, but what i want its the opposite which i can do it

is there any instructions of how calibration works in the game?

I tried that, and multiple combinations of calibrate-lock, lock-calibrate etc etc. This was in patch X but I don't know if that would make a difference. I tried DXtweak and IIRC the same sort of thing happened. I gave up in the end and I don't have much problem shifting . . . most of the time . . . *thinking of excuses* . . . ermm only when my legs start aching for example
Thanks for your help though.
Then you've set up DxTweak incorrectly. Remember that you can also put negative values for the axis curves.

To use LFS' calibration:
1) Go to Options > Controls
2) Disable calibration lock
3) Hit the recalibrate button
4) Recalibrate all axes but the clutch normally (by fully pressing/rotating)
5) Press the clutch pedal up to the point where you want the bite point to be, then release it again
6) Re-enable calibration lock

Hm... that's very weird. For me it works nicely. What I do when calibrating is:
1) Enter the Controllers section and push the clutch / brake pedal as far down as I want them to go
2) Press "recalibrate" and then release the pedals and calibrate the steering and throttle as usual
3) Click "lock calibration", and I'm done.

It stays fine even after exiting/restarting LFS. I don't understand why it works for some people and not for others..?
Oh my... It works a treat now. Cheers guys
So for a more real clutch are you creating a 1/3 deadzone at the bottom range of the travel? Or calibrating so that the clutch reaches 100% (in sim) while only pushing down your pedal to the 2/3 point?

I don't drive btw
