I am about to get a DPF and wanted to know one thing. When a car starts with the mouse or keyboard, there is always wheel spin at the start of the race. With the wheel and pedals, will that not be a problem any more?

Also, I have never driven a real car, so how much should I press? Final question is that is it easier to avoid wheel spin with a manual transmission?

Yes, with the pedals, you can reduce the amount of wheel spin your car gets because you can modulate the throttle proportionally and smoothly. For how much you should press, you need to experiment because every car setup is different if you are the one who grabs or changes the setups often. With a manual transmission, clutch (dfp doesn't have a clutch pedal), and a good amount of skill, you can modulate the clutch and throttle in such a way that you have a blazing start.

However, cars in LFS seem to start faster with wheel spin. I've tried this many times and it was almost always faster with some wheel spin, not a lot.

And as for the question, it depends on the car and the guear ratio of the setup. The more power available the less you'll need to press. With demo cars you can just full throttle them all at the start.

Technically it is not my wheel. My brother is getting it for his birthday. But he only plays PS2 games and said that if he does not like it, I get it! He said that like a month ago. Soo, he tried the wheel at his friends house and did not like it at all. Said that the dual-axis was easier to control with. So, when the wheel arrives (bought online yesterday), it is basically mine to use! He doesn't want to use it, but my parents won't get him the Xbox360 so he still got the wheel!!!
