There are some players that like many games, not just one. I don't play LFS instead of other racing games, I play LFS in addition to other games (racing and non-racing), in addition to having non-computer related hobbies (motorcycles, radio control gliders, ...).

My posts contain the odd hyperbole, of course I'll still play GTR2 (I have almost unlimited track/car mods and Nordschleife in the '08 F1 Ferrari really is that good) - and I'll always love a decent FPS and any God of War game - but my point is: I think LFS will end up being my main racing sim of choice. Which considering I've been a huge fan of Simbin's games since GTR and didn't think much of the basic LFS demo, is quite a statement.

I've played loads of racers over the years, from arcade games like NFS and Burnout to the more serious Richard Burns Rally and Geoff Crammond's GP4. But none came close to the enjoyment and intense feel that GTR / GT Legends / GTR2 gave me....until now.

Hmm, yes not good, and yes there is still plenty of room for improvement but I do prefer the majority of engine noises in LFS, maybe it's purely due to a change, who knows.

You can load other engine sounds into the game via the sound editor (Shift + A) too... Here's a thread full of them (the first few pages, the last ones are mostly retarded V8s for UF1 and other crap):

I left Rally Trophy for LFS.

GTR demo I drove for 30 minutes, GTL demo few hours, GTR2 demo about three laps and rFactor every now and then at my brother's.
LFS and RBR from the day I met them and still going...

If it was confusing, I wasn't disagreeing with you Some cars definitely sound better than others. Need of new features in the sound engine is most obvious with the BMW F1 and the two cars with flat engine. Then again XR Turbo and XFR are pretty good.

I think the patch in March '07 (the patch that improved the sounds) have made a difference: "horrible sound" is not anymore the first comment you hear from some newcomer.

I used to play GTR2... the physics sucked. The car never spins out when I steered the car around wildly. LFS has the best physics so far.
