Hi I run a dedicated IRC server with no users apart from my teammates from lfs, i have made a live4speed channel in the server, people can join this channel and discuss LFS problems and support and even just social chat.

I also have a channel for my warrock clans website visitors and members lounge.

Its basically a chatroom that also allows the users to register and create there own channels and be admin of that channel.

Usually one would have to download an IRC client to use an IRC server, but i have this sweet little webpage that logs in thru java applet.

Feel free anyone to visit or use the server, teams can make and manage there own channels.

AND REMEMBER! Dont use any passwords in IRC that are sensitive to your treasued lfs or msn accounts.

You dont even have to register anyway as you can make a channel and command it as a guest user. or even just join channels, but i would recommend changing your nick in the small box provided, once changed press enter for changes to take effect

On clicking this page you will be taken into the server.and automatically joined into the Live4Speed channel under a guest nickname.

Please note, that the channels can be moderated to stop people from typing unless granted rights to type.
At present it is allowed for anyone to type.
You will be warned about bad language or inapppropriate behaviour or kicked or banned.

If the channel takes off and we have lots users I will allocate admin rights to some LFS forum moderatos, assuming they want to use the IRC.
Like I said earlier Teams can get a channel and put there links in there too and it could advertise teams in that the channel list shows a topic for each channel.

Anyway, thoughts and ideas people what do you think ?

Why the need for a new LFS irc channel?

#liveforspeed on Gamesurge

What's wrong with irc://irc.gamesurge.net:6667/liveforspeed ?

Well i had no idea of a lfs channel there ;-p but ye anyway since i host my own server it was just an invitation, maybe it has features the other server dont have i dont know, Im hoping to get some input from people also for changes or additions of some kind to the server.

but the fact it is IRC makes no difference, the idea is you can click that link and log into irc without having an irc client on ya pc.
People can save the shortcut to there desktop and join it with a click, they can send link to friends family and have them join chats.

So lfs users who dont have IRC clients can just use that link.

Its really just an experimental server, could even make the whole server LFS dedicated meaning there will be no other activity in the entire server.

But ye its my private server that im willing to allow people to use, its fresh and its free and I just wanted people to come in and say hi.

Its hosted from a paid server unit and has unlinted bandwidth so to speak.

Anyway the link is attached to our team website for website visitors to use as live chat help service, feel free to put the link on your team sites anybody if you wish the same feature.
This is the primary reason for my IRC server is so people can login with the webpage link straight into a channel for live support
regarding my clan sites for other games including LFS.

there are plenty of (java) clients on the web that you can access the IRC server with, without downloading or installing anything.
