A1 GP California Race Cancelled...
i heard today from the A1 Team Ireland team boss that the next round of the A1 GP has been cancelled in Leguna Seca.
there is no offical comment yet but the track has failed it's A1 GP inspection.
i'm posting just incase some of you book tickets!
Whah!!!! How would Laguna Seca fail inspection Why would they put it on their schedule to begin with :zombie:

Dang, and I was really hoping to see Herta race there, he has won quite a few CART events there :o

LOL they say heavy rains have damaged the track. Next weekend's weather should be just fine!

Last week there was some talk that the track surface was breaking up in places where safety might be a real issue in the A1 race. This happens sometimes when water gets underneath bitumen.

According to www.autosport.com, it's back on:

An A1 GP spokesperson told autosport.com: "We initially believed that the work required for Laguna Seca would be not achieved in time, causing us to inform the teams of our decision to cancel.
"However, after further meetings with circuit officials we have been assured that the necessary work will be done and we have chosen to push ahead with plans for the race."

Hmmm didn't know that. Afaik, the surface is always in very good condition, even after weeks and weeks of rain. Maybe there is one specific area that just has a problem, dunno. Oh well

And yeah Rob76, it does look like it is back in action, hopefully it is a permanent decision
