Oh, what to do!!! [can't decide on birthday gift]
My birthday, a bit less than 2 weeks from now.

I hate my PS3 and want an Xbox 360 SOOOOOOOOO bad. I want Forza2 SOOO bad, because Gran Turismo is beginning to disappoint me.
But, my PC isn't the best! Barely scrapping 20-29 FPS with 14 AI cars in LFS S2, I'm also thinking about a newer PC, besides good parts become cheap these days...
honestly i would go for a New and better PC becuase on a PC you can do so much things and since you want Forza2 for the Xbox 360 there is a program that i saw today i don't know what its called but the program takes Xbox360 or PS3 games and makes them be able to play on a PC so you could be playing Forza2 on the PC but with a XBOX360 controller. but good luck!
Depends on your budget. If I were you, I'd spend some on good pc parts (not a whole pc unless yours is outdated), then if there is some money left over, buy a Driving Force Pro or Driving Force GT. If you love PC games and other computer stuff, then that's for you. But the Xbox will not dissapoint (except for the fact that it can't use the good Logitech wheels) and I'm sure you will be addicted if you get one. Hell, I can't stop going to my friend's house to play Rainbow Six: Vegas 2.

There isn't any program that makes PS3 or 360 games work on PC and probably never will be.

same
ive never heard of playing Ps3 games on PC
i mean 1080p is pretty hardcore
GT5 graphics are really good its a bit like how Crysis cant be played on full settings.

there was an emulator in progress for a couple of years, to play ps2 games on pc.
But the problem is, the performance of the new gen consoles (+ps2) is just dramatically better than the performance of the pc, so it is not possible to run console games at a decent speed on pc.
Some games that were nearly working with the emulator, had 2-3 FPS. Not the ideal gaming experience, i might add.

I'd suggest upgrading your pc for LFS & etc, but don't leave out the XBOX360+Forza yet

What?

A PC (a proper PC like mine, at least) would easily outpace a PS3. The main reason there aren't emulators is that to run games designed to max out PS3's architecture on a PC creates tremendous overheads on a PC's architecture.
get xbox 360 and forza. Then sell the ps3 and buy computer parts.

wow your PC could run GT5 at a higher fps at full quality than a PS3? Thats pretty damn good. My computer is fair and It can't even run LFS at more than 30 FPS on full quality.

OT: I voted for xbox. You could pay few thousand dollars for a computer that could run games like crysis or assassin's creed at full quality or buy an xbox for $275.

If GT5 was designed from the "ground up" to support my PC, and to use each and every ounce of power it possesses and to use every little foible of my CPU etc, then yes, probably. Admittedly my PC probably cost a hell of a lot more, but that is the virtue of a console. Not keen on the idea of a console, though, only bought one 'cuz it was cheap.

As it stands game designers have to try to make games run on the average PC, which, unfortunately, is often a single core P4 with integrated graphics...

OT - When I said "my pc", I simply meant something with a decent gfx card, a proper CPU and memory and some serious bandwidth going on - i didn't mean i'd actually worked it out.

EDIT #2 - My take on consoles is to cut all the crap out. PS3 WITHOUT Blu-Ray would be nice because some of us don't need a Blu-Ray player, and don't want to pay hundreds of pounds more for a useless feature (to me). The best idea i've seen so far is the Xbox (original) and XMBC - stream videos over a network, make a proper media centre. Why o' why this is only available from 3rd Party Developers for the original Xbox is beyond me. Oh well, suppose I can't complain with my £15 media centre *shrug*.
I understand there's a Firmware hack that can set the PS3 up to stream games to a PC. Not entirely sure what the point is, but I'm sure it's there. I think it's a mod of the PS3>PSP thing.
Odds are there's a similar thing for the 360, although again I don't see the point.

So it really depends. You already have a next-gen console and if you don't like it then the odds are unless there's a load of games you want for the other you'll hate that too.

TBH if you're only scraping 30fps in LFS, I'd go for the PC upgrade. Then you could trade in your PS3 for a 360 if you really want one. There'll be a Forza bundle out there somewhere.

(incidentally it's my birthday on the 27th too )

That doesn't make you sound at all spoilt.

Exactly my thoughts, to be honest.

I wish I'd get such an expensive gift for my birthday!
well xbox 360 sucks with the ring of death! Don't buy it, it's full of crap what i've been heard.
man if you hate your ps3 i'll buy from you about 10$...

Yet more rumours and hearsay. It's no wonder people used to get lynched without trial.

Yes, the old models of 360 used 90nm chips and suffered RRoD. Since October 2007 they have been built using 65nm Falcon CPUs which obviously generate less heat and therefor reduce the chance of the RRoD problem.

I'm on my 2nd 360 now as the first one died on me. However, the replacement is a pre-October 07 model which gets very heavy use and it's never had any problems.
How bout you get a life instead?

Seriously, get a PC.
Change of thought : Sod all that... I'll probably just settle for a DFP. No need for anything over-the-top.

Lock?
