Full System with 1200$
Hi,

I didn't work during the winter but now I went back to job and since I will be working 12hrs/day it will be quite easy to make some money. I first have to pay a bit for my car but I will be able to put 1200$ aside for a new computer since mom decided to keep the one we have once I move. So yeah I want to limit my budget to 1200$ and that must include the following:

-Monitor
-Sound System
-The computer itself (meh...)
-Mouse, keyboard, anything else...

What would you suggest me for that price? I dont have any specific need, I just want the best possible system without having to stretch the bills. I also already have a 17'' monitor which is small but it can do the job if a monitor can't be included in the 1200$. Thanks in advance!

Edit: Ok, I might give more infos...

- I dont need more than 200gb of HDD;
- I dont want more than a 19'' monitor;
- 2gb of RAM is enough for me (XP isn't a bitch ;p)
- I was thinking to get a 8800GTX
#2 - Jakg
I'd get a bigger monitor, a larger HDD, more RAM and an 8800GTX is stupid - an 8800GT is almost as good, quieter, cooler and doesnt need a small power station to run it.

Ok then tell me what system I can get for 1200$...

19'' seems ok, I DONT NEED more than 200gb and 2gb was ok but anyway.

Tell me what I should get lawl.
You probably don't need more than 200GB with what you've got now. I said that about me when i had a 36gb raptor, i've now filled a 250gb hdd on top of that and need more space.

You can never have too much, and HDD's are pretty cheap these days.

Not on an Intel socket. I thought you some things about computers these days?

I also doubt those parts would be included on a $1200 system. Thats like £700 for us after tax.
ATI Radeon 4850 (Apparently this thing kicks a 9800GTX's ass, and is only $200!)
DFI BloodIron Mobo
Intel E8400
4 GB OCZ Platinum DDR2 800 RAM
OCZ GameXStream 700W PSU
Coolermaster CM 690 Case
Seagate 250GB Hard Drive
LG SATA DVD Writer
Acer 19" 1440x900 Widescreen Monitor

Total- $1163.67 CAD

How bout it?

Oh crap, forgot an OS. You willing to spend a bit over $1200?

Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit
Also, to make it a little cheaper, 4gb of this RAM instead of the OCZ Platinum.

New total- $1273.66
I already have an OS so I guess it will be fine. Thanks for the help Headbanger. I will try and align he cash before I buy anything tho.

Which OS? If you don't have a 64-bit one then you should only use 3GB of RAM.
Good ol' XP 32-bit and right now I'm on 2gb of RAM and it's all good. I will possibly get 2gb of RAM, and maybe get another 1gb if I really need it.
yeah the 4850 is a pretty cool card. if thhe gddr5 version is out before you order it. you should go for the gddr5 version.

the bloodiron motherboard isnt pcie 2.0?

I'm not worried it will be out before I order it at all. Only planning to start collecting the parts in September.
