Some people really don't have any decency..

The only story I have comes from my dad....

He said he was sitting at a stoplight with a small 2wd pickup truck in the opposite lane stopped. They were stopped in a bit of a valley. A car was coming barreling down the hill behind the pickup and must not have been paying attention. Suddenly, the front end of the car dives down as the driver screeched on the brakes and slams into the pickup truck, front grill meeting the trucks rear bumper. The driver of the truck gets out and looks, grill, headlights, corners of both front fenders, hood, all smashed on the car. He looks at the back of his truck where there wasn't a scratch, shrugs his shoulders at the idiot who hit him, and climbed back in his truck as the light turned green and drove off.

Well, I guess that doesn't have anything to do with "Some people really don't have any decency.."

So, I do have another one. My manager at the grocery store I worked at when I was in high school was leaving for the day. He found a big dent in his car and a note on the windshield that read, "Sorry, I hit your car." That was all it said.

I need a year and model so I can get this truck.

Just get yourself a Hilux, anything else is just a toy.

A lot of people do that because if anyone saw it happening, they would think he's writing a note with his details, so they don't pay much attention to it. If I'd witness anything like that I'd go and check.

And about the car slamming in the back of the truck, that's quite normal, if your car isn't damaged or anything, and it's not your fault, why wait around? It's the other guy's fault anyway, so he'll have to pay. In some way he even does him a favor, he could of had him pay for a new bumper and stuff..
But that only works when it's not your fault..
If that was me I would of said "sucks to be you" just before getting in my truck and driving off.
It's still an accident scene and I believe illegal to leave. I'll bet the guy with the damage had problems with his insurance company.

Actually, I did see a similar situation myself, only the guy who was run into didn't just shrug and leave. He stayed and helped out....

I was driving down the road (major road where everyone normally drives 70 mph in decent weather) and it was snowing like mad. The road crews were not keeping up with the roads. The car in front of me was moving along at about 30 mph or so (I had 4wd so I don't have problems in this type of weather). We were nearing a little town up from where I live. You move up and over a crest in the road, then the road doglegs left a bit just over the crest and into the town. I knew that during the winters, it gets VERY bad and slippery there. The person in front of me obviously didn't know that. She continued her 30 mph and after popping over the crest, hit her brakes. Well, she just slid over to the side of the road where some guy in a POS old Chevy S10 Blazer was parked. She slammed into him from whatever speed she was doing because there was no braking with this much snow on the road. Smashed the entire front end of her fairly new car, exploded both airbags, which also smashed the windshield. He jumped out of his Blazer to check on her. Looking at his truck, there was no damage at all.

He told her not to worry about his car, she will have enough problems with the insurance on hers. It turned out that she was just a young ~19 year old girl. I had pulled over as well to help her out. She was quite hysterical about it as I'm sure it shook her up quite a bit. She was standing in the middle of the road bawling on the phone to her parents. I had to take her arm and move her off onto a side road while the guy she hit moved her car over to the side road so no one else would come and take her out. She calmed down after talking to her dad on the phone, and at this point, I probably could have left. But this is a little town way out in the country and it was only him, her, and I there. I figured it would be more comfortable for her not to be left alone with only one guy she didn't know, so I waited around as well until her family showed up.

So, there is two instances of a truck and car collision with no damage to the trucks and the cars completely smashed up. Yet, the drivers of trucks are the ones putting people in danger because of the size of their vehicles rather then the drivers of cars putting themselves in danger for not driving a stouter vehicle....

Oh, and before anyone asks, because I'm sure you all are wondering..... Yes, she was hot! Aren't all 19-20 year olds? Hehehe. But..... I am a 36 year old guy so....... .......
You don't need a truck to get no damage in a crash, my brother-in-law got rear-ended, his Mondeo had no damage, the other car was a bit smashed up.

Of course, of the person in the damaged car is panicked or in a bad shape, you don't leave them, but if there's nothing wrong, it's just their problem, it's not illegal driving away from it.
Some interesting reads in this thread. Looks can always be deceiving though. I was in a crash with my mom once when i was about 10. We were in a vauxhall astra estate, and came upto a roundabout. There was a citroen AX in front. He started off from the roundabout, so my mom followed while looking right for oncoming traffic. The AX in front stalled, but my mom did'nt notice, and hit him at about 25mph. The Airbags did'nt go off, so we and the guy in the citroen pulled into the mcdonalds nearby. We looked at the cars, and the AX looked fine, not even a scratch, but the astra was pretty smashed up, the entire front end damaged. They both took details, My mom rang my dad and told him what happened, so he brought the tow truck from work and lifted the car onto the back and took it to work. The next day, the guy in the citroen turned up after my mom gave him my dads work number. The guy in the citroen wanted to have his citroen examined. So, my dad put it on the lift and had a look. It turned out underneath the car at the rear, was all crumpled and bent, and it also torn through the compartment for the spare wheel (or what i think is where the spare wheel goes). In the end, the guy decided not to get it repaired as it was too old. And because my mom did'nt want to go through the insurance, my dad bought the guy a clio for £700, and the guy agreed to not go through with insurance.

Btw, without sounding rude, any news on the repairs for the fiesta?
All they did today was take pictures of my car, they should be finished with looking at those tomorrow or beginning of next week. So I still don't know if they're going to pay me, or it'll be a total loss.
Quote from ATC Quicksilver :If that was me I would of said "sucks to be you" just before getting in my truck and driving off.

I'd have tapped the window and told him "Looks expensive mate ..." Gave him a hint of sarcasm and "Better luck next time" attitude
Expert sent the estimated repair cost in today. He put it on 1.100 euros... Not really much.
So now the car will or get fixed with second hand parts and be sold, or it'll be sold in its current state.
We already found a potential next car: a black, 3 doors Focus, 2006, plenty of options, 1800 TDCI (115 hp). I'd be really happy to get that one.
Bump!

I passed school, tomorrow we're going to the garage to pay for my new car!
When I get back from my vacation to Portugal, I'll be driving this:

Have fun with your pathetic diesel engine
Nice looking little thingy though and it's brand new

It's only my second car, so for me this has great speed My previous car only had 60HP and I can think you can subtract 1HP every year, so it was left with 50 This one has 90HP and a Turbo..
Modern diesels are quite fun to drive

And I could of gotten a 2 year old Ford Focus with a 1.8 TDCI, but that was.. older. It's mainly for driving to school

I've driven a 1 series Bimmer diesel, a punto diesel and the new cinquecento, they were all rubbish to drive and fed my hatred towards the cheapskate engine. Seriously, I hate diesel from the bottom of my heart
Very nice fiesta you have there. At least something good came out of this accident . Now go and whack a front mounted intercooler, bigger turbo, uprated internals and a dump valve on... Only Kidding.

Btw, theres a little saying over here for diesels. "No smoke, No Poke!".

I quite like diesel engines, but only if used in specific vehicles, in a small car is just wrong, but for big ass 4x4s, vans, etc, diesels feel better than the petrol engined alternatives.
New Ford diesel's aren't that bad. Mum has a 1.6TDCi Fiesta and it's reliable and fairly nippy for a diesel.
Some diesels can out perform their petrol counter parts. The Diesel kia rio has about 110bhp while the petrol only has around 90bhp. It also has a turbo tho :P.
More horse power doesn't mean faster. The block under the bonnet of a diesel weighs about the same as a house, so that extra power is wasted dragging around more weight.

Luke - Rio's suck. Please stop posting about them. My Dad has a Kia Cee'd Turbo-Diesel sitting outside and the bloody thing is slower than his old Omega 2.0 Petrol Auto, which has less puff than me and yet always carries it's 10ton oversized suit, i mean bodywork around with it.
that's why i have Mr. Baseball Bat

It's an opinion. Just because you don't like something doesn't mean other people don't. jeez.

I mean you don't tell G!nho to stop posting about jeeps so stop telling me to stop posting about kia's. People have their own opinion.

I've never seen G!nho make a post about a Jeep?

Your don't post an opinion, you post "facts" claiming how your Dad's Kia Rio Diesel will out-accelerate *insert hot hatch here* and then never back them up...

Some people really don't have any decency..
