Also as the O/P has not put his sigs in - are you sure he would still have access to those pages?

I put it in there originally, and then I changed from a "Click here" link to a comical image hyperlinked to the page.

Either way I was still first

only if his browser supports the hyperlink

If his browser doesn't support a hyperlink I don't think your approach will work either
