lead ones i suppose... modern lithums would way far less
Quote from P5YcHoM4N :So where is the gain?

Because electricity is cheaper the gasoline. Per mile, that is. And electric motors are more efficient then gasoline engines, as well. If you look at the energy coming out of a battery compared to the energy at the wheels, the two values are much closer than the difference between the energy in a gallon of gas and the energy that the car outputs.

Quote from NitroNitrous :LOL is it made with concrete?

i know! youd expect that kind of weight in a large supermini, not a microcar.
Part of the reason the electricity may be cheaper than petrol (if it is even) is that you don't pay as much duty on fuel used to produce the electricity. Like for like petrol would be cheaper I believe.

Until the gov't decides to add duty on electric because of the extra demand on the national grid. Plus the power companies are ramping up prices all the time (another steep hike is expected soon), for now there might be a little saving. But it wouldn't last long.

Quote from speedway :

oh ye battireis are huge money! my mom has a civic hybrid and i just checked the price for it,it would cost 5G$ i was like OMG the car doesnt worth that much!
Quote from DeadWolfBones :

At least that can sort of go off the road, my car is so pointless I cant even hit bumps with out it nearly flying in to the other lane.
Quote from DeadWolfBones :[image]

I am pretty sure the H3 is even more pointless. It is the size of a bus externally, but the size of a Ford Fusion internally.
Yeah I know that batteries cost a lot, now the aim is to save the environment as we can. People will never buy electric cars if they cost more than a normal car. Why were they produced then? For rich people?!

You can't expect new technology to be cheaper than something that has been optimized for over 100 jears. Everything that's new is expensive.
The trick is to get governments to financially support electric vehicles, i.e. no road tax, free parking spots etc. The car will still be more expensive, but the running costs will be a lot lower.
aww man, that Smart copy is just awefull. I'd rather have a 1989 Honda Accord with electric conversion.
This must be the candidate for most pointless ( And it doesn't even manage 4 wheels !! ) - Scrawen, may we have this car with the Z update or S3 please.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reliant_Robin

" In the February 18, 2007 episode of Top Gear, a Reliant Robin was used by Richard Hammond and James May in an attempt to modify a normal K-reg Robin into a reusable space shuttle.[1] Steve Holland, a professional radio-controlled aircraft pilot, helped Hammond to work out how to land a Robin safely. The craft achieved a successful launch, flew for several seconds into the air and managed to successfully jettison the solid fuel rocket boosters on time. This was the largest rocket launched by a non-government organisation in Europe. It used 6 x 40960 NS O hybrid rocket motors giving a maximum thrust of 8 metric tons. However the car failed to separate from the large external fuel tank due to a faulty alignment between the Robin and the external tank (10 thousandths of an inch out), the Robin subsequently crashed and 'seemingly' exploded soon after. Plastic Pigs aren't useless, people with motorbike licences could drive them as they are classed as a trike.

And where would Del Boy be without his Plastic Pig? Bankrupt, that's where.
Reliants are classics!! Dont knock them till you've tried one!!

And if anybody offered me a "Bond Bug" in good nick, I'd rip their arm off!
These cars Racer X NZ posted, arent pointless, they are kinda cute. i think sprint cars are pointless.
Quote from Dajmin :I think Tesla did a pretty good job TBH.

0-60 is 4.2s. Range of about 200 miles last I heard. The Roadster ain't cheap though

Wiki wiki wah

I love that car. I got the chance to sit in one at a very fancy (re: what the hell was i doing there ) party put on by one of the owners of the tesla company. They're engineered in San Carlos California which is only 5 minutes from where I live so I get to go by and see one occasionally. If cars like that will be the product of this so-called "Green" revolution then maybe it won't be so bad.
I think the Smart Fortwo here in the States is the most pointless car, at least from what we have here. It only gets like what, 35-40 MPG and it costs as much as a Honda Fit (or Jazz) when that has two more doors, three more seats, and LOADS more cargo room than the Smart while also acheiving the same MPG.

eh.
