Hi! Im planning to buy new PC, but I dont really know nothing abaut building a proper PC. My budget is abaut 850€/1300$ and I though in lfs forum are smart people, maybe they could suggest me something good for that price?


And what you think of this PC :

HDD: Samsung Spinpoint F HD753LJ 750GB SATA II
PSU: Enermax Infinity EIN720AWT 720W

First of all - you better be overclocking - what cooler will you be using?

More memory (i.e. 4 GB) might be an idea.

I'd get a 4850 over a 9800GTX, esp. with your mobo - if it ever gets too slow add another for Crossfire action.

PSU's a bit overkill tbh - a 600w unit would be fine (but the one you've got is good!).

I'd get a Samsung F1 1TB drive if it were me as it's very VERY fast (fastest non-Raptor drive on the market).

jack it says 2x2048 in other words 2x2gb and that equals 4gb lol

d'oh thought it said 2x1024 MB.

Definatly get the new ATi 4870 over the 9800GTX!

Seek time isn't everything - a Raptor (or an SSD) would seek even faster than that due to the ultra fast RPM (or the new design in the case of an SSD drive).

SSDs seek fast but the overall transfer rate is miserable, besides that's not the point, you said the F1 is the fastest non-raptor drive which it just isn't (on paper).

Oh right - i meant it was the fastest reasonable size HDD that wasn't rediculously expensive.

SAMSUNG SpinPoint F1, 1 TB, 32MB Cache - 124.50€
Seagate Barracuda, 7200.11, 1TB, 32MB Cache - 143.00€ (seek 8.5ms, NQC, just like the ES.2)
Seagate Barracuda ES.2, 1TB, 32MB Cache -189.90€
It's not that much.

In real world test scenarios the F1 is faster than any 7200.1 drive.

OK guys, can you stop arguing about HDDs for a while?

It was actually me who suggested Dmt such configuration. Just to clarify few things, PSU is an overkill because I've been originally thinking of two slower ATI's in Crossfire and you know, he will add another HDD, overclock CPU, capacitor aging will kick in after two years and he will end up BSODing and crying

He is on a kind of tight budget and this seemes to be the maximum he can get in his country for 1300$.

But anyway, are there any suggestions and comments to this? Thx

Not really the same. But 4870 would be a good choice. I'm planning to buy one.
