I installed the Z patch over my Y version and now my game says I'm a Demo Racer. The readme for the Z patch says that it isn't compatable with the Y version. The instructions for the Z patch tell you how to go from Y to Z. I don't understand! Why give instructions to patch the game with the Z when it's not compatable with the Y??? Anyway, my game is ALL screwed up and I need to install it again. What is the best way to go about this? I have 3 unlocks available.

Just unlock it again

And "not compatible with the Y version" means that with patch Z you cannot play on patch Y servers, because the physics of some cars have changed a little. Of course patch Z is "compatible" to be installed over Y.

I'm sorry, I should have told you that I have the Z patch menu and it has no place to unlock the game.

Oh, that is weird. Try downloading the patch again, or reinstalling LFS if that doesn't help.

Make sure you use a DIFFERENT mirror to the one you originally used.

Lol, okay. I will try the patch again but if that doesn't work, do I have to download the demo again to get the unlock screen? I know it sounds crazy!

Just download the whole LFS again, and install it, and unlock it. (Or something like that)

Just click your name, or demo user or whatever the button in the bottom right corner says. It's not explicitly labeled "UNLOCK" anymore AFAIK.

Holy moly! You're right Morpha. I clicked on "Demo Race: Ruddrunner" and I got an unlock screen! How does the average person know that? Lol. First I'm going to try the Z patch again and if that doesn't work, I know what to do to unlock. Thanks again.

please be a little more specific when why and how it doesnt let you extract... does the patch exe start at all?

Do you have Vista?

I have and I got the same-ish problem, the auto-updater won't auto-update because I don't have the rights for it, but it does place the LFS_patch_Y_to_Z.exe in the folder, just click that and it will update.
