If Hitler Had Never Existed...
Would the world today be better a worst?

I suspect worst. Here is my scenario...

Without Hitler I believe Germany creates the first atomic bomb. Germany was the center of a scientific renaissance. They were far ahead of the rest of the world in rocket technology and atomic research.

Once Germany had nuclear weapons they would have inevitably launched a war to avenge their defeat in WWI. Instead of Hiroshima and Nagasaki we would have Moscow and London (probably two lesser cities in those respective countries).

Europe including Britain would be part of a fascist German empire--The United States of German (U.S.G). Most of the Soviet Union would be annexed for the oil fields. The Soviet Union as we know it would have never existed.

The United States, being out of range of German v2, v3, v4 missles would buy enough time to become the 2nd nuclear power. But without the poached German scientist the U.S. would take longer to develop ballistic missle technology.

Japan would seek an alliance with the U.S.G and dominate Asia ruthlessly. Japan would eventually be the 3rd super power.

So, instead of what we had with Hitler....U.S.A, U.S.S.R and China superpowers we would have had U.S.G , U.S.A and The Japanese Empire superpowers. I believe this is a far worse world than what we have now.

What's your scenario?

War drives technology - we all know that. Whether the "modern world's" technology is really worth millions of Deaths is another matter...
Nazis never get to power, no genocidal maniac takes control of Germany. No second world war. USSR implodes in the 40s.

Hitler drove WW2, if he wasn't in the equation it wouldn't have happend in all likelyhood.

It's all speculation though.
German just screwed itself with the two world wars.
Hitler was a n00b! I had to learn a lot of him, since it was one of the topics at graduation... But! The effects of the great depression caused huge damages to GER... For instance the number of unemployed people increased gradually. By the end of his period he managed to stop unemployment, and organized building programs etc... Don't forget what he did with the Jews, his political opponents and with lots of people... Simply had them murdered...

I still say if only he had never existed.

These are the most unbased speculations I have ever read. (post 1)

It’s not all cause of one person... if Hitler hasn’t existed then someone else would.
Better or worse... we don’t know.
If Hitler hadn't existed, maybe Max Mosley's dad would've invaded Poland.
and spanking would be a mandatory part of f1 driver education
We'd never have had the VW Beetle, or the Autobahn
For 1 moments i think this tread wass started by Lerts

A second world war was inevitable because of the rise of fascism/nationalism and communism in Europe and Asia. Not to mention lingering animosity from the end of the WWI. And simply put the German military machine was way too developed to just sit there and do nothing. Whoever took control of Germany would have used it. Same with Japan's military machine.

It was only a matter of when.

And finally Germany like Japan lacked the oil they needed to fuel their war machines so invading the Soviet Union, Middle East, and for Japan China and South East Asia was inevitable.

Vaguely plausible. I think that chaos theory would mean that someone (possibly an adventurous American explorer) uncovered a dormant Monster of gigantic destructive potential in May 1955, probably in a deep sea trench, 655.4 miles off the coast of Ireland.

After a brief resistance this Monster would destroy all the major populations of the world, leaving only Brighton, on the Southern English coast, where a trio of spritely teens and their dog would realise the Monster is actually just misunderstood, and wants to play. They would befriend it, but then another, truly deadly monster would awaken, and the two would fight it out in the mountains of Andorra, the good monster eventually winning. Alas, in a teary climax the good monster is mortally wounded, and the teens say a farewell as the snow begins to fall.

On their return to Brighton the teens realise that small numbers of people in isolated locations have survived, and news travels of rebuilding the worlds cities, beginning with Birmingham.

And that is what would have happened had Hitler never been born.

How about reading this book.
You all should watch the documentary "Soviet Story", you'd know that Germany or for that matter Hitler on it's own wouldn't have been able to do sh*t, the genocide committed by Hitler was child's play compared to the 7 million that were starved to death in Ukraine in 1932 - 33. I'm not going to speculate on anything, but Hitler and his deeds are just way too overblown. It's the media that has crucified Hitler and his party. While in Russia and the general public considers the people behind the soviet mass murders as heroes of WWII.

If Hitler hadn't taken power then what would the guy that did do about hyperinflation?
Germany was set for a revolution whether Hitler took control or not, whether whoever rose from the ashes or not went on the war path is a question for debate - let's assume not.

Britain would still have some sense of empire in Asia and would retain control of India and would not have had the war debts to America. That alone would be a huge shift in economics.

America would have remained a very insular country with little or no interest in foreign affairs and a tiny standing army. Internationally they would have been much more innert, so no cold war, no wars in the middle east, and no rule by fear in the modern Western police state. Britian would likely not have achieved peace with Ireland without 9/11.

In the East The Soviet Union would never has been as large, there would have been no arms race, and it would not have collapsed in on itself.

The most significant major power in Asia would have been Japan, with Manchuria already under annex and without allied support would China have held off Japan? Would Japan's need for oil have seen them invading America anyway? And could America have fended off Japan without the world already at war given it's tiny standing army? Would Japan have looked elsewhere for oil and pushed into the Middle East? Most of Asia would have been under Japanese Imperial control - would this have led to conflict with Britain?

It's completly obvious that the world would have developed like this.

I really hope we can soon see a movie in the cinema about all this and that we'll see what really happend with the truly deadly monster.

We wouldn't have autobahns
Also this scenario has been discussed over and over again several times - maybe not here, but it has. Just look at the "Red Alert"-series of Command and Conquer.
I think Hitlers exsistent was inevitable for the world to become the place it was today, History wise that is.
I think that when Hitler were doing the munich riot instead of the idiot shooting the 2 people beside Hitler they shot hitler instead, the rise would have faild, Nazi's wouldnt have come to power WW2 would have been fought with diffrent nations at a diffrent time period, and the world wouldnt be the place today.

Life is full of What if's and what could have been. Thats life you all know that, but you also know it doenst matter now coz its come and gone.

Though i like seeing diffrent view points keeps life real

Wrong. The plans for autobahns were around before the NSDAP took power. It was them who reaised them though, which might have taken longer if they hadn't (also because it were the Nazis who stole Henry Fords idea to make the car a way of mass transportation).

The OP's theory isn't just unlikely, but almost nonsensical. It was Hitler who broke the treaty of Versailles, which made the quick scientific boost possible. If he hadn't, germany wouldn't have had spent so much for research.

But I personally think that without Hitler, the history would be quite the same, as the political movement, and a mentalité that was a fertile soil for it throughout europe, existed independent from him. So it would just be another name we'd talk about now.

But given that nationalist and fascist ideas didn't come up (don't forget that nationalism basically triggered WWI), we would most likely live in parliamentary monarchies with the borders of the 1850ies and the technology of the 1950 (both world wars sped up the technological devolepment immensly), and most of the world would still be british or french colonies.
Schumacher might have been more popular in the UK, and England VS Germany would be a boring football match.
