Teleportation. Travel is revolutionising the world, but planes are going backwards (well, ok, just slower), and it's public, has to run to schedules, etc. If I decide I want to nip to the other side of town to see someone, at 1am on a Sunday night, being able to do that instantly would be SO convenient. Of course the main benefits are for longer distances, but it's that I'd likely appreciate the most.

Until then, the tube system from Futurama would suffice.

They already have them, they are known as universal remote controls, I have one on my phone, from which I can control everything around me, and once I install the IR light switch I can control them too.
