We're still letting the server settle in and get more drivers re-familiarising themselves with the TBOs. Right now, a high proportion of the grid is still finding its feet. Longer-term, there will be seats taken by people who aren't fully familiar, but there will be less of them and the impact on the race as a whole should fall as that happens.

Standards-wise, zuggy's right. We're holding people to the Silver licence standard on Race 2. That really means we expect bloody good driving and behaviour standards from them. A silver licence takes a lot of driving on CTRA servers to achieve, and whether the individual thinks they're a n00b or not, we don't expect them to drive like one.

I have no idea! I'm calling him that rather than reversing his name to "dominguez"!
Quote from hyntty :? Is that what zoig prefers to be called?

I got called at least 50 different names in 3 years on this forum so I stopped caring a long time ago.

Most people just write "z". That's how lazy people are today!!
I call H then, less misspronounciation/spelling...
Been some great racing on this server the past few days, I even got some wins and podiums :o

TBO class is perfect now, the FXO is still overall the best of the 3 IMO, but it's still balanced
Took the XRT for a spin on Race 2 yesterday. Literally.

20+ cars on the grid is just awesome! I really need to learn how to drive close to other people again. I give way too much space for those trying to pass me. Or in some cases too little.

I wouldn't say the standard of driving is so bad. Propably more due to the fact that people are learning how to drive with so many other cars around them.

The down side is that I get no more points. But that doesn't matter 'cause I got my Platinum while you guys were mucking about on Race 1 and such. Njah! Njah! Njah!
Now I only have to learn to drive like one.

Really? I haven't done any testing, but from what I've seen the FXO appears to be a lot faster than the XRT, and the RB4 is lagging way behind.

I haven't been on many tracks in the new TBO's though.
The XRT is now (in the right hands) closer to the FXO, but the FXO is just much easier to drive fast.

Same here.

It looks like the FXO got faster again, at least in comparison with the RB4.
Yup, FXO still pwns.

Am i the only one who suffers terribly with tires?

They do get rather warm, however, it seems that the tyres don't react as badly to high temps as they used to, I can drive the FXO still as fast on 99C tyres as I can on 70C tyres
But that's why you get double less points in FXO
Quote from N I K I :But that's why you get double less points in FXO

Unless it has been changed recently, all TBO score equal points.

Quote :This is where the newly-balanced* FXO, RB4 and XRT compete. To race TBO, a Silver CTRA licence is required.

*The points-balancing within the TBO class has been dropped, thanks to live Master Server balancing, so it's a level playing field and you can choose whichever TBO car you want to race, for equal points.

I much preferred it when the FXO scored less, meant you didn't have a grid full of the bloody things.
I know when I raced I've noticed that I still win less points with FXO then with XRT (dunno about RB4 and don't care )
TBH, points come very far down the list of my requirements, I am much interested in good close racing than points

You are a rose amoungst many thornes
One thing , with the longer races , i feel the auto restarts are to quick.
i would be racing on ctra 2 if i could finish a race without getting taken out in ctra race 1.
Report is your friend.

Start at the back to avoid the T1 mayhem. Then slalom through the wreckage.

Works best on SO tracks.

i reported 1 person yesterday and 1 today both didn't even say sorry, and i also started in back and just got caught up in the wreckage.
The brake pedal is your friend.

Slowing down without braking can be good too. Not to mention being very aware of the other cars on the track and what they might do next. Knowing how to avoid wrecks in front of you or getting wrecked by the cars behind you is as valuable a skill as being able to go fast.

Like March Hare (based on what he's said about himself) I'm not especially fast. But I've managed to make it to a Gold License and National A. A lot of that came from avoiding incidents, both the ones that have already happened, and one's that would have happened if I hadn't anticipated them.

I've also noticed that it's often (though by no means always) the fastest drivers who have the hardest time avoiding accidents. Not totally surprising, I guess.
Quote from JohnnyFX :The brake pedal is your friend.

Forgot that one. Especially when starting form the back and coming to T1.
I used to deliberately have a slow start so the hasty ones could break their suspensions in the hassle.

Quote from JohnnyFX :Like March Hare I'm not especially fast.

Thanks a bunch. But so true. I lose about 3 seconds every minute to the WRs. But look at me! I have Platinum.

I know the type. They are so used to hotlapping that they are not able to adapt to other drivers on the server being slower than they are. In other words: Those who can't race.

But then there is the other type of fast drivers who can truly race. First they are a dot in the rearview mirror. Then suddenly they are driving a few pixels from your rear bumper. And even if you try to hold 'em off with slightly dirty, or more severe, tricks they just take it in stride and pass you all the same.
