FE Green haybale thingies?
Hey all involved in CTRA.

Not sure if this has been brought up before, but on one of the FE Green tracks, (I think Fe2, not sure), there are those stupid haybails, at the chicane straight after the start/finish straight, which not only slows cars, and laptimes down, but also is the cause of many-a wreckathon crash bang wallop of a race, especially on the first lap. 20 or so drivers barreling into a corner which is only wide enough for 2 cars on entry, 1 car mid corner and exit is only asking for trouble.

If it's to make the track safer, you can easily get through that chicane (as you do in the "reverse" format), faster and no less safely without the haybails. What's more, if someone hits them into the racing line, you invariably flip thanks to the curbs combined with the impact with the space hopping bails of hay.

From talking to various people who I race with, they agree that it's rather silly and pointless, from our point of view.

Maybe I'm just being ignorant to some amazingly true fact that's been hidden away, but think about removing it please? >_>

it's been discussed many times. It doesnt remove the accident, it simply changes the nature of the accident so that it is not after a blind bend, and it's your own doing when it goes wrong and not a physics bug.

A better solution may one day be proposed, but removing it wouldnt really solve anything, it would just make the crashed drivers more innocent.

You all know it's there by now...
Not arguing that I don't know that it's there, like it's some unknown thing. I spent hours learning how to get it right, just was wondering why it was there

(Btw if a moved physics object respawns under your car, you do go flying)

I noticed today that the FE Green chicane (T1) is different now than last I saw it, which was in patch Y. Did it change in patch Z? Now it's pretty much the normal line, the old one was much slower and tighter.

I noticed this as well.

S14 DRIFT,

If you don't like the chicane now, then you should have seen it previously. It was to be taken at 3rd gear before.

I have no problem with any layout.
For me I take it in third gear anyway, I kick the back of the car out a bit so I can drive as straight line as possible, avoiding that stupid bail that sticks out a couple of feet, which can hamper your time.

I'm fully used to it, and so on. Just would prefer it not being there

The CTRA admins will listen to any well thoughtout and logical request... however - that is instantly dismissed when the text is in Red
Well I like red (All of my posts are in red. It's a habbit I picked up on another forum)

I'm sorry to horn in on a CTRA thread but are you, (S14 DRIFT) interested in racing or laptimes? Surely you go to a track, even in real life, and drive what you've got! I get the same complaints on dMr sometimes. I make layouts to prevent track cutting and I get "those bales are affecting my lap limes" Oddly enough, they dont! The good drivers dont even notice they're there!

Yes, I can totaly understand what you are saying.

However, racing is, lets face it, seeing who is the fastest, as well as the little battles you get racing for the "win", or any position for that matter, otherwise "Fastest lap" wouldn't mean anything.

I'd consider myself a "good driver" and it's a bit hard to NOT notice them, when it cuts half the track out as well as halves the width of the track mid corner. I'd happily do a quick (video) comparison for you to show you what I mean, I estimate it does slow you down by around 0.1-0.5 of a second per lap depending on you as a driver anyway. (See attachment)

It's not like I'm "complaining", rather just wondering why they are there an requesting for thier removal - Request was denied, and that was that.

From your (like you said) shi* drawin, i can see that the ctra admins have changed the chicane, thanks! looks much easier now
i have raced on a populated server without the bales and can say t1, the turn after the chicane, is hell, its tight, blind and easy to get wrong, now people are more organised by the time they reach that turn and things are smoother

edit: and yes the are accidents at the bail chicane but thats the nature of t1 the accidents there are alot better than the one mentioned above
