Controller wheel vs cockpit wheel dont turn synced
Hello,
I've set the degrees of rotation in LFS to 900 deg. for my G25. When I'm in cockpit mode I see the wheel turn many more degrees than I've turned my G25. Eg. If I turn the G25 90 deg, the wheel in the cockpit has turned over 180 deg. I would like to know if there's a setting that allows me to 'synchronize' the 2 wheels.
I've tried the slider for 'wheel turn compensation' but that didn't help any.
Set wheel turn compensation to 1, wheel turn to 900 and make sure that the logitech driver settings are set to 900 as well (under "game controllers" in the control panel).
I've calibrated my wheel via the Control Panel > Game Controlers. I've also calibrated in-game by turning the wheel full left and right. Wheel turn compensation is set to 1.
Unfortunately nothing changed. Do I have to have the Logitech Profiler software installed? I don't have that installed.
Would you say the G25 will not work properly if I don't install the profiler? For me, the G25 is working fine. No problems with regard to steering or setup, even in other games. And I do use the drivers from the official Logitech site. They include the Profiler if I'm not mistaken, but I just extract the drivers and use those in my unattended Windows installations.
The wheel is correctly recognized as a 'Logitech G25 Racing Wheel USB'. And I can calibrate through the Game Controlers in the Control Panel, and test all the 19 buttons. I was hoping there was a setting in a config file that would control the ratio of turn for the cockpit wheel. For me this is just a small issue and not worth installing the Profiler for.
There are NO cars in LFS with 900deg lock at the moment. The highest lock are many of the road cars that have 720 lock.
When you set controller lock in LFS it does not effect the lock in cars.
So set you G25 to 720 in LFS and in CP and then wheel comp to 1 in LFS. Now LFS will make the wheel turn match in ALL cars.
900lock in low end road cars has been requested and I believe is on Scawens work list although requires incompatible patch and new driver animations before it can be done.
Yes, but having the controller at 900° has no negative effect on this, well maybe apart from missing the FF stop at 720°, but it certainly won't cause the ingame wheel to turn more than the real one.
That can only be caused by
a) having set the wheel to less degree rotation than the car's ingame wheel has, or
b) having a not correctly calibrated wheel, which is fixed by turning left/right
I use logitech profiler and i'm not a cheater lol, also why would it matter if it's not synced?
mine isn't and i do just fine, i look at the road not how much the wheel is turning, i use as less turn needed to make the turn, i use 430 degrees in most cars, and 25 ff, and same in profiler.
I agree with that. I can tell already by that awful "L" icon in the system tray. But I don't use it at all either so I chose not to install it anymore.
I cant seem to find that tab. When I go to the Windows Control Panel > Game Controlers > G25 > Properties. I only see 2 tabs: 'Settings' (where I can calibrate), and 'Test' (where I can only test the wheel and buttons).
Did you install the Logitech drivers for the G25 and then uninstall the Profiler? I've extracted the drivers myself and use them in an unattended Windows installation, so the Logitech download is never run.
Because it's making me nervous. Really, even the slightest tinyest turn on my wheel will make the cockpit wheel turn huge amount of degrees. So when I'm making a turn and making many slight corrections on the G25 you will see the cockpit wheel go bezerk. It's a bit distracting and doesn't look very realistic.
I'd like it with the wheel on; it looks nice.
How is that unfair? I'm not making the G25 turn less, I just want the cockpit wheel to turn the same amount of degrees I turn my G25 wheel. Not sure I understand why that's unfair. (no pun intended) Please explain.
I've set the degrees of turn in LFS settings to 720 degrees, but that didn't help any. I cannot change the degrees of turn in the Windows Control Panel > Game Controllers because I guess I'm missing a tab due to not installing the Logitech Profiler.
I'll try installing the Logitech drivers and uninstalling the profiler. Let's see if that gives me more options.

I put the max deg. of rotation in LFS to 900 deg. from day one. Since the wheel can turn 900 deg. and LFS support this value through the slider I thought I would be logical to put it on 900. Somebody else suggested I try the 720 deg. value. But, as said, that didn't change anything for me. Wheel compensation has always been on 1.
I wasn't being completely serious when I added the cheating bit above, I should have added a smiley
IIRC I think you click the settings tab then there is an advanced button you can click to get into the forces/springs menu.
I am pretty sure the drivers are seperate from the profiler and available to download but I dont remember where from
you ar looking for a window that looks like the one below,(old pic but relevant ***EDIT The values in the pic where used for testing only and should not be used I suggest all sliders at 0 except the top one (forces I use 50-100) and the rotation one of course try 720***)
Thank you SD for going through all that trouble. No, I did not have that screen you have posted. My G25 Controller Properties look completely different. Once I installed the Wingman software I got that screen. I tried uninstalling the Wingman software to see if the Game Controller options in the C/P would remain, but they did NOT.
I'll try stopping the Wingman software from starting up through the registry and see if the options still remain in the CP and post results here.
In any case, installing that software and setting it to 900 deg. did solve my problem in LFS. The wheel now turns in sync with the cockpit wheel.

Oh boy! Took LFS out for a spin with the Wingman software installed, and everything felt different. Forcefeedback didn't feel as realistic anymore and my times plumeted. Also it appeared that I needed to make 90 deg. turns on the G25 to make even the slightest turn in LFS; I almost dislocated my shoulder.
I didn't know how fast I needed to uninstall Wingman. I'll settle for the cockpit wheel going bezerk instead.
Willem, I suggest setting up the wheel properly for maximum realism. The wheel's rotation should match the cars exactly. Some people use less degrees of rotation, which is unrealistic, but may make the car easier to control if you spend most of your time sideways.
Attached is my recommended setup for road cars (XRG, XFG, LX cars, RAC, etc) which have 720 degrees in the game.
I'm not sure what the difference is between the wingman app and the logitech profiler, but since the logitech profiler came with the wheel that's what I suggest using. You should also change your settings in LFS so the degrees of rotation for the wheel matches the car. I believe you can change this either in the options menu or in the garage - I usually just make sure it's what I want in both screens.
For the GT and formula cars, you should change both the profiler settings and game settings to match the lower degrees of rotation of those vehicles.
I always launch LFS using the profiler and I keep my global profile settings at 900 degrees for iRacing.
Thank you Technique. I'll give those a try some time later this week. I'm a bit unhappy and upset with the Wingman Profiler software. Spent so much time setting it up and trying to make Force Feedback in LFS feel a little like it did before I installed the Wingman software, that I've now basically have my stomach full of it. It's currently no longer installed on my system, and to be honest with you, for now that's the way I'd like to keep it.
I have taken note of your screenshots and excellent explanation. Once the 'pain' has settled a bit and my 'wounds have healed' I'll give it another go, and try to be more patient.

The Wingman app is actually the name Logitech gave the application. Wingman contains the Profiler. One of your screenshots had the "W" in the Titlebar and there should be a "W" in your system tray aswell.
Yes, I realize now what you mean. I only had 200 deg. of turning before. It will take some tome getting used to but I'll give it my best shot.
I've got to give it to the LFS community. By far the friendliest and most helpfull of all. Last time when I did my first online race and people saw I was struggeling with my setup people where falling over each other sending me their setups.
I'll give this ago again. I'll reinstall Wingman Profiler and try some of the settings here. I'll report back soon.
I actually gave this a try yesterday. I mostly race the FXR (iirc) and I believe I saw that had a steering lock of 540 deg.
Nevertheless I followed all instructions and set the steering lock to 720 deg. As said before I was steering like a mad man and it appeared to be a bit over the top and unrealistic.
I then tried to put all settings to 540 deg (Windows C/P, and LFS settings). The amount of turning seemed to have droped slightly but it was still too much for me and still didn't seem very realistic either, in my humble opinion.
I have a slumbering RSI issue in my right shoulder and all this steering hasn't done it any good. I may have to revert back to the 200 deg. of turning just because of the health issue.

EDIT: One more question if I may... As said I drive the FXR and it has a lock of 540 deg. Now if I want to switch to a car with 720 deg. lock, I need to exit LFS, go to Windows C/P and change the degrees of turn in the Controller setup AND then I need to make the same changes in LFS and start it up via the Profile manager? Did I get that right. Seems a bit troublesome to me.
