UK/US phone queries
Hey all, I couldn't find anything on Google about my queries,, so:

1. I have a friend in the USA who asked me to call them, I did, the signal was bad and dropped frequently, any way to sort this?

2. Is there a way to make cheap calls from UK/Ireland to USA/Canada?

3. Is it possible/legal to have/use a US registered phone in the EU?
Skype?
Or maybe another VOIP option if you both have a computer like MSN?

EDIT: And the internet of course =P
Afaik, it costs to call a number from skype. Not sure about it though, it'd use up bandwith?
1, A US registered phone in the EU would cost the earth to use.
2, The dropping is common when phoning the US via mobile, I had the same issue phoning a friend in Canada, it helps to use a land line.
3, Skype costs to dial phone numbers and uses bandwidth, however it costs much less than a normal phone.
It depends what phone company you have. Our last provider, Ice (don't go with them though. Ever. There's a 30 page thread ranting on them on boards :rolleyes, gave free calls to Ireland, UK and US, to both landlines and mobiles. It was fairly handy, but AFAIK, they're the only provider that have that offer...

Best option is probably something like VoipCheap, or Skype. It'll use bandwidth, but not very much at all. Maybe 1MB for 10 minutes or something, it's very easy on bandwidth...
Isnt Skype to Skype calls free to anywhere though? I always thought that you only paid for Skype calls if you called a normal landline/cellphone.

MSN with a decent cam/headset is the answer though...EmmyLou chats for hours to her sister in France for sweet FA via MSN
