Outerinfo Virus!
God damn viruses. I got this one a few weeks back & i cant get rid of it.
It keeps spamming adverts via explorer. I have run spyware doctor full version & ad-aware SE & still it keeps loading up web pages which has become quite annoying as it slows everything down?

What can I do?
let AVG or NOD32 run
Spywaredoctor
no-adware
superantispware

Stop downloading rubbish. You have to try pretty hard to download malware.
just buy the Video's or DVD's from Seymore Butts and Eddy Lipstick, it's safer that way
Try system restore.

Won't work... System Restore won't remove viruses, most of the time they embed themselves inside the system restore so if it's used it just makes the problem worse.
Boot into safe mode and run a proper AV program, none of this shitty freebie stuff.

... and DON'T download it! Buy.

So you think.......

Put it this way, how do you know, just because a free AVG says you are virus free, doesn't make it true

i havent noticed any virusses, nothing weird happened yet

But that's the thing with viruses and malware; half of the time you don't even notice anything while the damage is just as bad or even worse.

You cannot be sure you're virus free unless you have 2 market-leading anti-virus/malware programs to run a scan for you. One will fetch what the other won't, and visa versa.

But of course once you part with money, everything is guaranteed to get caught?

Meh, anti-virus software is a scam. In my experience they do much more more harm than the very thing they're supposed to protect you from. In all my 20 years of computing the only malware I've had on my computer was the Blaster worm, and the anti-virus software I was using at the time (bought and paid for even) did jack shit to protect me. It would do a real good job of nagging and making my computer slow as molasses though.

Can't be arsed anymore. Use a proper firewall with a sprinkling of common sense and you'll be fine. You'll never be 100% safe either way you slice it.
Of course not, but with a little research you can easily find the best.

It's all well and good not having protection when you're the only one who uses the PC.......
I always use a rather crappy program called "RegRun Reanimator". It is apparently terrible but it does a good job of removing the virus if you know which file(s) the virus is.

What are you crazy? are you suggesting somebody put the likes of McAfee on their PC's?

I rather have nothing on my PC... I fix a lot of PC's for a lot of folks, I put adaware (free) spybot (free) and AVG anti virus (free)

only noobs first time PC buyers use that McAfee crap.
Trading Standards would eat them alive if the free versions of ad and virus removing software didn't do what it advertised. So it might not do it in any fancy way and you might not be able to have it load on boot or integrated into Explorer, but in terms of finding and removing viruses, it'll do anything the premium version does.

I used Norton for a while (I got gifted a copy with a year subscription or something), so I know that just because something costs a lot of money doesn't mean it's worth having
I don't have a single anti-virus program on the computer and the Windows firewall is disabled too. We use Ad-Aware for scanning a few times per year though. Had.. what.. 5 viruses in 7, no, 6 years.
Never said anything about mcfee, norton etc etc.

IMO, there is only one single AV program worth it's salt on the market, NOD32.

:| I still don't understand quite how people can get viruses so easily. And they have all this anti virus stuff lol.

I had Norton internet security until it kept deleting one of my programmes i was using as a virus |:| so i uninstalled it. And since then ive never had an antivirus and ive not got one "noticable" virus as of yet. And every so often i run a programme that starts to run but then hide, at which point its process is ENDED and i delete any files its made.

Come on , if a 15 year old boy can manage to not get viruses with no antivirus then im sure older people with antiviruses can manage not to?
Although then again there may be a virus hidden somewhere in my computer but it must do absolutely nothing because i see nothing bad happening.

But for a solution id say either get a bunch of antiviruses and see if they can find it. Re install windows xp after backing up your files. Or perhaps even use google (no im not being cocky), a few years ago on my old laptop i got a virus which was poping up adds everywhere and sometimes making my laptop refuse to connect to the internet so i googled "How to get rid of *virus name goes here* and i found something that acctually worked.

Also i did this for your virus and came along this topic

http://www.bleepingcomputer.co ... on/index.php/t128058.html

thats of someone with the same problem but if what they do their cant help then i suggest just signing up and posting your own topic about it.

Well good luck kick that shitty viruses ass!
Quote from (SaM) :... and DON'T download it! Buy.

I have bought the full version of spyware doctor & its still not good enough.
outerinnfo eh? i forgot what files but you have to delete some. it should be gone. i hate outer info. oh and bit defender kicks nods ash there both the same imo.
Dont use ie.
firefox's much safer.
Back when I used to fix computers I never sucessfully removed a virus with an anti-virus tool since Windows 95 was released. They're all rubbish, without exception.

I'll give you a hint about the anti-virus community: On the Macintosh there where no virus' for a good number of years, there's now a handful all of which where quashed by Apple patching the vulnerability out of their OS. However before the first OSX virus there was over 10 anti-virus tools for OSX, many disappeared when the first virus was descovered.

The anti-virus industry is full of crooks.

What's more the protection software that's available is universally inadequate, corporate programming practices just cannot compete with the college kids who make this stuff.

Big virus databases wont help either, a virus is mostly only a threat to normal users when it is "in the wild", ie: Just after release. It takes ages for the anti-virus companies to respond to real security threats, so the only real protection you have from a virus your software is giving you no protection against.

The virus writers know the tools out on the market, dont be fooled into thinking that this heuristic guessing things will protect you, they wont. The anti-virus software exists before the virus is writen, ergo, the virus is going to ruin your day anyway.

So accepting that anti-virus software will neither remove a known virus, and your most at threat from unknown virus, what can you do?

Well personally I recommend using newsgroups for porn rather than your web browser, and don't use bit torrent.

Prevention is better than cure, just dont be fooled into thinking having 2 or more anti-virus programs is going to do you a scrap of good - it will do good, but only for a fat cats carribean cruise.

Once infected, either get it professionally cleaned, delete windows folder and reinstall, or educate yourself in methods of removal.
