I love LFS because:
- The feel is closest to the feel you have in RL out of any sim I have tried
- It is actually updated once in a while (unlike majority of other games)

I mostly use LFS to pick up hot women. It's not working all that great so far but at least it's no worse than any other racing sim, and it's cheaper.

Which track do you find them on? Red Light dist in South City?

Haha, perfect! Thanks that made my day Yes iRacing has provided me with some thrilling racing, but at the same time it is a bit serious isn't it? I love that I can go on a server on LFS and start making fun of some old friends who ask where I've been and that they miss me beating them (at driving I mean :P). Conversation before and after the race is not looked down upon in LFS, and it's generally a lighter atmosphere as it's taken less seriously in some ways. Nothing wrong with either approach whatsoever, but I do like having a laugh with people I have raced against a lot in LFS.

And of course the devs' approach is probably the most ingenious one in the games industry ever since. Its not like other developers dont want to do their thing the same way... its just not possible...

There are just a lot of things why I love LFS:

1. Best physics ever. (I spend many hours just playing LFS, watching replays, going around with Shift + U, watching the physics in slowdown, and I never get tired)
2. LFS World is just perfect, I'm using it as my Windows desktop right now
3. Best Graphics
4. There are a lot of tracks and cars, and we are getting more and more.
5. The development is amazing, looks like the devs work on LFS everytime, there is always a TEST patch coming on and every time I download it I get just amazed on how much things they've done to the game. And I always love to help, even if I get just a single bug report.
6. There are a lot of servers online with so much people to play it at anytime
7. The best Multiplayer mode I've ever seen! 32 people on a server, and no lag.
8. Skins are just perfect. You can edit them in just any image editor and do whatever you want! how could it be better!?
9. Incredible damage system, even on the car body. (just needs a bit more work but its still incredible and I can't complain on that)
10. The game with the highest FPS ever. A MX440 is a lot more than the necessary to play it on high settings (even though I have a 8600GT)
11. Easiest game to play: put it anywhere, click on LFS.exe and you are racing. No need to reinstall when you format windows, no need to reconfigure after reinstalling windows, the game still the same thing no matter what you do [changing directory, format windows, etc]
12. The people on the forums, on the servers, the devs, everybody I've seen are incredible, they are friendly, easy-going, they make you Welcome to the game and playing with them is worth it. I visit LFS website and forums everyday, though I don't speak so much
13. The game is cheap. Though here on brasil it costs R$100 (Reais), but this is the normal price to every PC game.
14. Configuring a steering wheel could never be easier: connect to the PC. open LFS. Turn it to one of the locks, then to the other lock, and you are ready to play properly.
15. and of course, a lot of other things but I have no time to mention them here

I suppose I better add what I like about LFS.

- Skinning is easy, viewer is good.
- UF1 is a great car - if only tracks were just as great

besides what everyone has already said, which really is important, i also like LFS because:

When i want to play online for instance, i almost don't have to move the mouse. The buttons appear exactly where i have it, and they are big enough so i can click them almost without looking.

The User Interface is really well made. Its one of the best i've seen in all games i've played.

And because i can play it on my mother language.

Why I love LFS? ... Simple;

Politics.
The Devs dedication to make a simulator instead of a easy driven grapich orgasm beloved by some many software houses due to the easy sell to console players that don't want any challenge at all.

Thank u Devs... and take it further, please.

I love LFS because it has filled times of boredom with times of fun and tension for the last 1.5 years for me. In addition, it has allowed me to develop my media and creative skills and has even helped my social skills and confidence to an extent. All that, just from a racing sim!

LFS with full grid of learning drivers that are not randomly brake testing each other, on a server built in 1991 with a 33.3k modem maybe, but i dont see that many space collisions TBH with the type of vehicles i use, and yes like you say its down to lag to an extent & speed of impact and area.
You should know this.

I would say for quite a percentage, but i could be wrong, that LFS is adequate, and quite beautiful in places.

I've got 14 games on STEAM, and more than 30 original games on CD/DVDs, most of them are installed (all the STEAM ones + most of the DVDs), and I usually play most of them.

I'm sure there are better looking games than LFS, but what I meant was that LFS has the best graphics I've seen for a DX8 game. Even if you compare it with other simulation racing games running DX9 LFS is just better than a lot of them, and has a better performance [with great graphics] than all of them (I'd say that LFS has the best performance ever).
Also if you use ENBSeries you'll get a cool Depth of Field and Bloom effect for LFS (also motion blur and occlusion if you want - of course you need to configure it for not to make you blind)

Anyway, I like LFS because (Well apart from already stated) -

I actually feel like I am learning how to drive in strategy, racing lines, setups and knowing the limits; which feels like this knowledge picked up on a consumer's simulation will translate to real life! I haven't felt like I have picked up some real life driving techniques from any other simulation I have tried. Anyone else feel this way?
