Why bother with appealing against reports?
Hi, I'm quite fustrated as i think i am on my last warning on CTRA. I admit i get a little overexcited on the servers sometimes but doesn't everyone? It's fun racing on the single seater servers but i'm too scared to talk to people now just incase i offend them

I've appealed against 2 reports against me and the admins have stuck to their decisions which is a bit out of order because the 1st report i was told i was cutting but having checked the replay i clearly did not...

The second report i admit i used fail language but it wasn't meant to be abusive in any way and the driver had deliberatly wrecked me so i expressed my anger towards him - kinda like sch & Dc back in the 90's

I think i have cleaned up my act a lot since patch Z and would really like to start a clean slate on CTRA without having to buy a new S2 licence....

Is this possible???
Nope. If you feel you've cleaned up your act you won't have anything to worry about now, though, will you?

Personally I never report people for merely using abusive language, unless they're really crossing the line (eg. making extremely racist or other discriminating remarks). But I guess you should just watch what you say, no matter what happened to you. I get annoyed or even angry myself sometimes, but I'll never say anything worse than "idiot" or "fool"

Warnings are not publicly visible to others on your stats page, they're only visible to you on your MyCTRA page. Cautions disappear from the stats page after 3 months and (non-permanent) bans disappear after 6 months.

FTR, your caution for course-cutting wasn't for the accident in lap 1 but for the beginning of lap 4. If you still have a copy of LFS Y installed (as I have), download the replay and have a look.

I would strongly suggest it is only worth the effort of appealing if you have a leg to stand on

The admin do a helluva job keeping up with the quantity of reports and from what I've seen first hand, the feedback is always thought thru' and logical.

We may not always agree with their decisions, but at least the process is there to be used if we feel the punishment does not fit the crime.

With my league organiser hat on and wanting to use CTRA licence information on league applications to save myself a lot of trouble with the 'weeding out' process, i'd very much like to see a drivers history being kept on file slightly longer than that, and being able to see warnings.

I appreciate that after time drivers do deserve a fresh start >>if<< they keep their nose clean, but if you are certifying these drivers are up to a given standard then hiding that crucial information is a lost opportunity.

I do realise there is a pubstat time key system on a per licence basis, but if i've got 60 drivers to check that's a lot of work and emails and explanations back and forward and what have you.

That opinion having been aired, and whilst on the subject of licences, does the old style licence lookup page still exist and work? Albiet with it's less detailed information. All links to it seem to have vanished, but I much preffered the style of it, and would like to link to it from a remote site (outside of a CTRA context it's a much nicer licence page).
thanks, but...
Will i ever get the use of myCTRA back? after 6 months is a lotta time and my hamilton pic might be out of date lol :P

i also use the CTRA application on facebook which is really playing up ATM - no auto update and my licence details still showing me as a clubman on my profile... something to do with PHP i think... Alastair B has reset something but it didn't work and there are a few other guys having the same problem (dunno is i should post this in a new topic)

Thanks anyway, i'll be sitting at the dock of the bay - watching time roll away hehe

@Becky.. the information is carried in the pubstats, although I'm probably going to extend the information held there specifically in the XML formatted version. At the moment it just gives the total number of infractions.. ultimately it will group them thus:-

<infraction>
<reportid>17898</reportid>
<level>7</level>
<descr>MIDTERM BAN</descr>
<issuedate>2008/7/30</issuedate>
</infraction>

For the moment, if any of the pubstat results give an infraction count>1 I'd ask for an Access Key, so that you can view that driver's licence notes on their stats page.

I dropped the licence page ultimately for a couple of reasons. First, because it was not easily maintained. I don't do PHP, and it was entirely written in PHP - not ma thang. Secondly, I made the decision to make all pages sourced from raceauthority.com fit the same site design and brand. I replaced the licence lookup page with the stats page, which gives much more information, is extensible and is design-compliant with the rest of the site.

@ Peter, I'll chase up Ali who wrote the Facebook app when I can find him. Unfortunately he's sailing up and down the med at the moment on a cruise ship (which he does for about 8 months in the year - the git).

You should have use of MyCTRA again now. You should have had it for a couple of days actually (I figured you'd stopped pratting about in that department and unlocked it again). Let me know if you definitely don't have it.

Yeah no worries, do you still have the files for it I might try to remake it using the pubstat info when I get around to making the new STCC site. It'd be grand if you did as that'd save a load of work, cheers

I'm sure I have 'em somewhere.. I'll get 'em to you
Thanks once again for the help!
MyCTRA is back up and running again and only a month till the caution gets wiped (fingers crossed) :P

Just have to wait for Ali to get off he's spaceship lol!
I personally believe the only mistake peter made was expressing his racist attitude when he knew he was not meant to, the only change he will probably make is to be more careful to hide it.

You didn't swear peter, you were racist to someone, and when I said there is no room for racists anywhere, you said "CTRA sucks anyway" and quit. My report on that incident was dismissed because someone else already reported it before I did, so you didn't just offend the person the racist remark was aimed at.

If CTRA sucks so much, why do you want to race there so badly now?

Cheers hun, dont use the old banshee address though i've totally migrated to the beckyrose domain now, thanks

Yes, peter, oops indeed. That filth is sitting in my email inbox right now.
I just have to learn to focus my fingers more on the wheel than on the keyboard. It will take time to tame my temper but i'm trying to focus it more on the track and ignore some of the comments from the competition

CTRA is good and i enjoy racing in there servers but sometimes people egos come across a bit overpowering for no reason.

We are all human at the end of the day and i don't want to hold a grudge against anyone, but in future i will be more reserved :d

Quicksilver - i've paid the price so lets shake hands!

SamH - thanks for the support

Peace-out
I don't know about anyone else, but what I look for in a situation like this is an emotional expression of personal regret, if you don't show remorse, and you don't say sorry, then you must believe your actions were right and justified. If it were up to me I would extend your ban across all CTRA servers for life, thankfully for you the people who are in control of that are more forgiving than me.
fair enough!

I'm with ATC on this one. I guess I wouldn't make a good admin eh?

Same here, I guess we can open a "bad admin club".
Aren't you already in the "really bad forum moderator" club, Franky?
Franky isnt exceptional enough to be really bad or really good, he is in the moderately average moderators club.

Can I also add that I would rather bite off my own hand and pour lemon juice in the hole than shake it with a racists hand. :bitehard:

Indeed, that's me too. I hope you're not actually under the mistaken impression that I'm fooled by kiss-and-make-up guff. I can assure you I'm much smarter than that, and the absence of any indication of shame or remorse may as well be posted on a pink neon sign. I have one foot in the LFS forum, and another in the CTRA admin section. One of those has my very frank and full feelings about all this permanently stored, I can assure you.
I wouldn't blame you if you had fallen for a kiss and make-up guff if he had attempted one, but he didn't. Literally all he has said is, when is my ban finished? I'm not guilty anyway and CTRA is out of order!

Ahh.. then you didn't get the email notification that I got, of a certain post that was subsequently deleted. Just as well, tbh.
