It require some more attention than tbo's road cars, of course they're not popular but you can cross some more often than "never" .
Btw it's sad you can't drive them on CTRA anymore.
It's really matter of perspective. The BF1 is incredibly hard car to drive on the limit so you could look at the bf1 as the highest form of racing with slicks and aero. So the LX8 could be the highest form of racing without aero and slicks. And it's defenately not about a drifting car with road supers, those tires really just emphasize the need for smooth throttle pedal. Surely the car wouldn't be for anyone but what car is?
As for the dangerousness of the 'ring, you can't really compare the 'ring with any of the LFS' tracks. All tracks we have are smooth, open, fast and quite straight-forward. I think the LX8 with roadies would be the ultimate trac-day car for the ring, in LFS, in my opinion . And with the tracks in LFS it wouldn't really be that bad either because of the style of the tracks we have. And tbh. there are people who struggle with the LX6 so the LX8 wouldn't really create a new class of cars no one can drive.
And if the difficulty of the driving was the defining factor of new cars we would have never got anything above the XRG.
The LX8 would be a welcome change for a small group of people who really like all the road cars in LFS. As I have said before, an LX8 paired with AC cobra style american car would create an awesome new class. I'm sure it wouldn't be a huge success in terms of full servers but it would be damn fun for those who like those types of cars...
Indeed...I would cream my panties if one day I checked LFS.net and saw the LX8 and another car in its class was released...who cares if it is hard to drive, that just makes it a challenge and a welcome one at that...i've always wanted an 'insane' car that begs to be thrown around in LFS...and the LX8 is just that...why there is a finished car that is just sitting on the devs hard drives puzzles me...
I would drive the LX8 just for the shear pleasure of driving, as hypa said it would be the ultimate trac-day car. Imagine long winding track, G25 gear shifter clutch, three screens, racing cockpit, butt kicker = driving heaven
Definately wouldn't want it to have aero, but would like to see slicks as well as road supers available for rubber as both could be alot of fun.
did this article already come up? http://www.autoblog.com/2008/0 ... -bhp-per-ton-mark-scares/
I imagine the lx8 would be like this although in the picture there is front aero which i think would be a necessity to keep this beast on the ground.
It would be very nice. Anyway, it is already almost impossible to find a server with LX4 and LX6, but we find 25 servers with the same typical combos.
There should be a permanent server for each class of cars.
I have driven the LX8 GTR, and I tell you that it's VERY VERY VERY hard to control. To acelerate you shouldn't top throttle, because it drifts. If you are going at high speed at BLGP straight, you know that after the 1st split there is a down? If you top throttle there, the LX8 drifts So if devolvers bring it back, make it more controlable, because in patch 0.5F it's not so easy
The LX8 wouldn't be anything like the RAC - the engine is in a completely different place.
But... it's already dead easy to run out of grip on the LX6 when trying to accelerate out of corners, and that's why most people are scared of it, so maybe the LX8 would just be frustrating rather than fun. Maybe.
I think a lighter LX with a big four-pot and carbon-fibre everything would be more fun. Especially with a turbo that kicked in right when you thought you'd got your corner exit perfect.
I have had lots of fun with a tweaked LX6 to the performance specs of the LX8. That combo on road supers is not scary at all, in fact I find it is actually kinda nice. Fine, the LX6 runs out of grip as it is, I personally don't have this problem unless I am in first or second gear. giving it an extra 155hp did not bother me, I just had to use less throttle around a corner and it took a little longer to get my foot all the way down. Put it all on slicks and It goes from something exciting to something dull.
Now if you put about 570hp and slicks it becomes something fun again that really is not that hard to drive, you would just have to get used to the fact that it does go like a bat out of hell and can't completely floor it out of a corner and hope to come out straight
