Wow, what aHOT weekend! Geez...

I think this was one of the best ALMS races at Mosport in years. Lots of on track action and close battles, as far as I could see from my spot in Turn 2. Glad Faulkner is (or appears to be) OK, that car was seriously mangled in that wreck.

Overall a top weekend of racing action. I love that place!
Great race, it's a shame the Dyson cars weren't turning properly or they would have put up a much better fight...
Quote from deggis :Sometimes the tv directing sucks ass. Of course it's hard when there are 4 classes but in Lime Rock, can't remember who but there were two P2 cars battling for position and just coming to the first corner and suddenly the camera starts to show a lone GT2 car And the pass was never shown.

Speak of the devil... how in the world it was possible to miss Brabham's both passes (first Maassen and then Fernandez) in the last minutes of the race?
Just watched the race. It felt a little slow going at first but as it usually happens with ALMS, the further you go, the better it gets. The finish was epic! Very very pleased with Brabs' finish (I'm becoming a serious fan of this guy!) but kind of bummed about De Ferran's misfortune. After all they've been through, it would be nice to see them win.

BTW, a little upset about the 30 sec. penalty handed to #71 for contact with #45 at the end. It looked like #45 actually closed the door on Muller.

It was deliberate dive-bombing when both drivers have been warned to stop bumping around... Completely justified imo...
I wouldn't call that dive bombing. Sure it wasn't very clean, but #45 opened a gap on the right and 71 was right up there. Then 45 tightened the line even though he had room on the left. I guess when you're on the limit like that and it's the last lap, the brain is in kind of hibernation mode.
Does anyone have a blueprint style view of the 07/08 RS Spyder? I don't recall where I got it from, but I had a pdf file (ALMS Spotter Guide.pdf I think it was called) which had profile views of all the cars. I think it was from the 07 Petite Lemans. Anyone here happen to have this?

Speculation is over, Acura goes P1 in 2009 with Highcroft and De Ferran.

WOOT! Great news, deggis, thanks! Two of my fav. P2 teams, too.
The downside is that there will only be one Acura P2 car next year against (I'm guessing) 4 Porsches. Would be nice to have one or two more cars in there.

I'm wondering what engine Acura will use in their P1 cars, as there have been some speculation that it will be shared with a potential GT1 entry with the new NSX.

This series is getting better and better every weekend

Speed reporter Marshall Pruett thinks Penske will pull out and Porsche keeps backing Dyson instead. Maybe time to jump to P1 now...

Next year IMSA could finally apply the ACO weight rules and that makes P2 cars chances at overall wins even less likely, altough the nature of the tracks won't change where P2 cars have had an advantage just like Detroit today. But the heat will be in P1, thanks to Acura and P2 victory means nothing.
Sure, with new regs P2 cars may have even less of a chance of an overall win (heck, they had that chance reduced this year already) - and I suppose that's what keeps the sponsors interested - but just like in GT2, it doesn't necessarily take away from a great battle. At the end of the day, I think everyone will benefit from having great battles in all of the series' classes, rather than in only two.
Hopefully will go to silverstone this weekend. Anybody else going?
Does anyone have pictures of the changes that have been done to Lime Rock Park? All I've seen is this video plus I downloaded blueprints of what is supposed to be done by the end of this year.

Also, anyone know what chicanes the ALMS will be running next year at Lime Rock due to the changes of the course? I am 100% sure I will be going next year as I missed this years and regret it.
I don't know about this. Personally i think someone paid Audi to stop racing to give others a chance to in the P1 catagory. Just abit fishy to me.
Bentley is not replacing Audi this time, so take off your tin foil hat.

Personally I just think they don't want the chance of not getting a class victory so they pulled out. Finally we get a chance of having more than one make in P1, and now it's gone.
