just bought eDimensional ones.
I was not able to make them run on LCD
back to CRT they work
in the garage they are impressive
but in race condition I do not manage to get the right settings
Could you refer me to a site or game demo's that really show the potential of 3D glasses? I just got a pair of eDimensional 3D glasses.
So far i haven't got that good results. I tried in LFS first, and quickly saw that i could have the cockpit with good depth, but then the rest of the track would be pretty flat, while in i tuned to make the track look good, the cockpit was all messed up.
The driver tests shows "ghosting" - is this something that can be avoided? It could best be compared with a glass infront of the monitor, reflecting what the monitor shows.
I find the abovementioned annoying, and was untill i saw your reply afraid that this is how good it gets.
Anyhow, I would really like to see something that looks as it should - or as best as it can get, so I now what to expect.
On the sidenote: I bought this particular 3d glasses since I reas there were races who wouldn't play without them - and that they uses glasses, but that didn't become any issue.
I use glasses myself, and would say they are pretty small, but even though I cant use the 3D glasses without using contact lenses.
I have them and they are a good investment to make I say. And they are a great company.( Tec support called me back on a weekend)!!! In reguards to setting them up properly, set them up so they look good from the point of view you mainly drive in and if your watching replays, readjust them to taste for outside viewing. As far as getting them to work with a lcd display, I think they have a kit or some software to address that. I also suggest the trackir, I just got LFS and dont know if it works with it or not, hence I came across this posting and decided to answer because they have good product's and are a great company.
Hats off to them,
sack
P.s.
Make sure you check system requirments and such for the gear.
the Z800 3D Visor seems pretty cool. the resolution doesn't completely suck and it includes a motion tracker. didn't hear any actual reviews for it though as it's pretty new. anyone tried it?
And why is that? Depends if you see the 16:9 as broader or the 4.:3 as higher... but as long as they can't cover all the 180° of view, it will always restrict your view
Imagin you wear these glasses. Your wheel in your hand. Feet on the pedals. Everythings alright. But now, what do you do when you want to adjust the pit-strategy using the F12 key? You can't put down the glasses because you'd crash your car and you won't find the correct key with the glasses on. Solution?
There'd need a lot of work to be done on the GUI to make something like that comfortable.
I do wonder if these enclosed head devices could be damaging for your eyes.
Aren't you trying to focus on objects which appear to be quite some distance away, but the image itself is but a few mm's from your eyes? Can this not cause problems?
No. Why should it?
The HMD uses OLEDs, so there are no electo-magnetic waves beside the light you can see. Just purely, healthy light (without what the whole device would be rather senseless...).
Of course the three dimensional image you believe to see is an illusion. But illusions only hurt when you are in the desert and die from dehydration because you ran after a fata-morgana .
you focus at the perveived image which is, due to the optics, quite far from your eyes. if the optics are good, i see no reason for it to be worse than a pair of glasses.
I suppose that's what I meant, focusing on something which is perceived as being some distance away, even though the image is actually very very close. Perhaps it simply doesn't matter.
The i-glasses supports max resolutions of 800x600 at 32 bits colour with "3D stereoscopic support" , and the GyroTrack its a head tracker with 360º of head movement.
I use the emagin z800 all the time for lfs. After playing in true 3d, I would never go back to a flat 2d monitor. There is no problem using the keyboard as I still have some vision below the eye pieces. This is a great piece of kit.
I might be of some help to guys with the Edimensional 3d glasses. I just got my set and i have been fiddling with it for 5 hours. i got a great cockpit view and a decent track view.
I set my point of view in the cockpit back further. I find this makes the 2 images merge a little better, it deffenitly gives you great depth in the cockpit and a good view of the track. i find the track in the distance is a little bit blurry but this is all the more reallistic. If your in turn 1 doing 280+kph are u going to focus on whats going into turn 2 in real life? not at this speed. Plus when other cars are passing you get a good depth persepsion of where and how far they are way from you..
Just put your cockpit view back a bit and adjust ur settings. when i did this i didnt have to change the settigns for any other view.. also birds eye view looked freaking amazing! the only problem is in the pit where u select ur car u get a double overlapped image of your car... but who cares!? its fine on the track.
Do the eDimensional glasses also work with ATI cards? I heard that NVIDIA supports 3D-glasses better than ATI, but I read on the eDimensional site that there are also drivers from eDimensional for ATI cards.
