+1 (E: Answered, thanks Jordan )

Downloading both now though, thanks for the info
Hmpf... it's not compatible with 64 bit OSes it seems, is there a work-around for this?

Just a theory....maybe install an old copy of Win 98 in a VM?? Never tried it, and dont know if you could run a 32 bit OS inside a 64 bit VM, but may be worth a look...IIRC the original Red Alert was only 16 bit code (like AoE etc)
Nah, I have the original, with the boxes and all

(must not try this, I remember spending way too much time with this when it was released over a decade ago :schwitz

You can run a 32 bit OS inside of a 32bit VM (i mean the actual "virtual machine", not the program that runs the virtual machine) on a 64bit computer.

Likewise
There's a note on the download page that suggests that there's a workaround for 64 bit OSes on the forums.

Horray! Free C&C Goodness for all!
Red Alert 1, you could make 'fake' buildings right?

Now that was neat.
Not sure about that, but my wish is that they release Red Alert 2 for free, if that ever happens it would kill the servers due to extreme amounts of pressure on the multiplayer
Everyoen I know have some sort of knowlege around Red Alert 2, and most loved it.

They're giving RA2 away to people who pre-order. So you could always try pre-ordering RA3 then cancelling after you've got your copy of RA2
I tried playing Red Alert 1 a long time ago and I couldn't do it, the graphics were just so bad. Red Alert 2 on the other hand is an excellent game, I loved it so much. I'm looking forward to Red Alert 3.

go back in '95 and find a strategy game with (much) better graphics, i think you can't
I just wish there was a way to turn down the scroll speed. It moves so quickly even at the lowest setting that it's nearly impossible to keep my units on screen! And you can't use the cursor.

It was so cute when I was installing it. DirectX 3 required! I laughed
