Want people to see all of your lfs skin but don't want to give away the skin to the public? Look no further, here in this guide you will learn how to create a 3D viewer for your skin. Look at the bottom of this thread for links to what your 3D lfs skin will look like (You will need the Photosynth application which you can find just below)
What You Need:
1. Start fraps
4. Hit the hotkey which is set to take screenshots.
5. Rotate the view around the car, make sure you get a screenshot of everything. (I spend about 5 minutes making sure its screenied all of the car.)
6. Close the CMX Viewer and fraps.
7. Start the Photosynth application.
8. Select "Start a new synth"
9. Give your Synth a name and tags.
10. Click "Add Photos" and select all the photo's you just took and hit "Open"
11. Now click "Synth" and it should start to create your 3D skin. The time it takes can vary from system to system, so just let it run in the background while you do other things.
12. When it finishes you can click "View" and you can see your skin in 3D, if there are parts of the skin missing then go back and take screenies of that part of the skin then re do steps 8-11 but include the new photos too. If all of the skin is there you can now give the link to other people so those with Photosynth can now view your skin in 3D.
Other Things To Know:
Examples:
Example is currently photosynthing.
Photosynth - Example One - Front & Top View - Click in the middle and drag down/up to view the front and top of the car or use the arrows.
Photosynth - Example Two - Front & Side View - You can use the arrows on the side or for more precision you can drag the circle that's in the middle.
Thanks to RevengeR For finding the photosynth application, you can find that thread here.
What You Need:
- Fraps (Im sure you could do this with other screen capture programmes but there's a specific option in fraps that i use which makes everything much easier)
- Photosynth application which can be found here.
- CMX Viewer which can be downloaded here
1. Start fraps
- Go to the "Screenshots" tab and set the format that it saves pictures to "JPG"
- Check the box that says "Repeat screen capture every .... seconds (until hotkey pressed again)
- Set the seconds to "1"
- Click "Load CMX"
- Select the car that you created your skin for
- Click "Default" select your skin. (Note you have to have moved your skin to the /data/skins directory before it will come up here)

If all of the skin is there you can now give the link to other people so those with Photosynth can now view your skin in 3D.
Other Things To Know:
- The more photo's you take the better the Synth will be, so take as many as you possibly can, id recommend around 200 photos should do it.
- You can probably also try this technique using CTRL+U inside LFS instead of using the CMX Viewer.
