lol, that bike has a bigger tire in the rear than my EX500 (~50 hp, 400 lbs), and I'm not exactly struggling for grip on my bias-ply sport-touring tires.

Sorry, I just have to laugh at the form-before-function idealism. It's also only marginally lighter than my 500.

Honestly, just get something cheap. When you get your full license, you can get what you really want.
Personally, I wouldn't bother with a 125, but some people just want to get out on the road the quickest route there is.

Hyosung have questionable build quality and reliability.
Aight, so I bought one

It was a slightly newer, much lower milage one, that wasn't dropped or in need of a new tyre

Needs a service and that's all.

Just waiting on my CBT now (but first my provisional -_-), then I'm going to have to hope my EMA comes through for the insurance

Nice bike go steady
Aye, tasty little machine, keep it rubber side down dude

CBT = Easy as piss. Don't worry.

Just don't do what I did and think it would be ok to have one at the same time as a guy on a 125 when on a 50 - I was thrashing it on a bike with a 35MPH top speed while the instructor and the 125 dude were bitching because they were doing 60 and I couldn't keep up
Wow, nice bike, good find Weird, sounds exactly like mine though

Lol, cheers everyone. o.o

Jak the only thing I'm (maybe overly worrying) concerned during my CBT / normal road riding about is the principle of steering the damn thing.

I used to ride off road bikes and never thought about it, but on the road is a different matter, and that's the principle of counter-steering. I'm sure after I've done my CBT I'll be sorted but it's just the rules of push left go left that seem un-natural to think about.

Also on that, did you have to use your own bike? I thought they loaned you out a bike for the day? o.o

I had the option of my bike (50+ MPH DNA in smeeeeexy blue), or their bike (heap-o-crap Peugeot Streetfighter - oddly de-restricted (!)). I paid £10 extra for their bike with full insurance so if i crashed I wouldn't have to pay a penny for repairs

The CBT usually starts off in a car-park etc for practising basic manouvers - I'd had a "play" on my bike on the road (ssssh!) before hand but I couldn't steer for shit. By the end of the first few hours it was natural, and all I had to do was just think left and my body/bike followed (which is a connection I don't get in my car )

If I passed, you'll pass
CBT isn't even a test, you don't "pass" it.

CBT is just a training day, and at the end of the training day the guy decides if he thinks you are safe enough to be given the certificate.
Hmm, all this talk about bikes.... Shall i?.......
Yes, do you have a bike license?
Yes, you should.

*Slightly Off topic*

A cause for concern for me is that apparently, the bike I bought is a UK sourced bike, *Not an import*, this was made clear to me on pick up, and on the auction page on Ebay from which I found it, and yet when I finally get around to reading it, it's in German, Italian, Spanish and French. Obviously English isn't included? Is this normal with Aprilia bikes or is this something saying that it's actually imported?

(It also missed it's 600mile service, which is basically just a gearbox oil change and a few other minor things, currently at 95x miles, I'm assuming it's not to serious over-running this service, was not me, was the previous owner I may add) Regardless of which, will be getting it done as soon as I'm mobile at the local YAMAHA dealership (It's a Yam franchised one, the nearest Aprilia dealer is 45 miles away )
Hmmm.....you mean the manual?, my Aprilia has an English manual.

Yes, the manual is in Italian, German, Spanish, and French. There is no English section.

I'll probbably just buy a Manual from Ebay but that's not the point
Don't buy one, give us a min, and I'll PM ya....
Nice first bike, I don't expect you'll keep it restricted/restrict it will you?

I guess service stamps are all the more important with these things. It will be a shame to pay (I expect) £50+ for gearbox oil and not much else, though. It's surprising the first owner didn't do it, selling dealers usually offer the first service for free or for cost of oil.

As for its origin, don't the V5 and other documents give a clue? The service book should say which dealer sold it and where, so you'll see if it's a UK Aprilia dealer or one of the parallel importers.
It was sold by a dealership up north (Premier Bikes LTD) as New to the private seller I bought it from***, he paid £2700 cash+trade in.

It's a full power so I'll consider restricting it for a few months till I'm used to it.

He said that he didn't get it serviced because his son (who it was for) stopped using it, hence the sale and presumably lack of service.

I'm waiting on the V5 to come through, I have that little slip you get when you pick it up, and now just waiting for him to have sent off the other part, and the DVLA to send it back to me... All it says on the little slip is ..

"Make : APRILIA
Model : RS125 FP06
Date of First registration : 02/ 08 / 2007"

I ran one of those MyTextChecks on it before I bought it, came back clean.. didn't say if it was imported or anything. Meh... I'm just annoyed I can't read it... was looking forward to it

(Also, CBT booked for the 30th September after my holiday, went to warm it up today after I'd polished it and battery was flat... bump start ftl )
Premier Bikes in Doncaster is an official Aprilia franchise, so I think it's safe to say that the numpty you bought it from (the one that didn't service it) has just lost the English manual.

Restrict it to be legal. If you're happy with riding unrestricted and the consequential (potential) complications that could arise, then don't bother restricting it at all, unless you need a certificate for insurance purposes, it's not going to run away with you. I'd say the police don't really give a monkey's, 99% of them on L-plates are probably derestricted, the whole point of having one is so that it will be faster than an L-plated 125 should be. Otherwise you might as well have gone for a more reliable 4 stroke option.
Ahh... Yay confidence has been regained...

I dunno about the cops round here, never had any run ins with them before...if I need the certificate I'll just restrict it, but if not I'll probbably leave it be.. more hassle...besides I learn faster if it's harder
