GT5 and Synth sound.
Well I think the reason that the GT5 car sounds are soo lifeless is because maybe they´re synthetized? In this video, The sound itself isn't that great, but, after watching it i realized that upshifts and downshifts actually sound nice! what do you think?

i just hate the tire squeal sounds!!!
tyre sounds are better in the latest GT5p update.
Damn, I really want a game with so many cars and such graphics... even if it's physics isn't as good as a regular sim...

(thinks of investing into a PS3)
GT5p was a little short for me for £20, will be buying the full version on release though...
I don't actually think it sounds too bad to be honest
Played Forza 2 again today for the first time in months, it's amazing just how much better the actual "racing feel" of Forza 2 is compared to GT5.....

Just a shame that compared to GT5p, Forza sucks graphically big time, the cockpits on GT5p are astounding.
yeah and the shine in Forza 2 feels soo unnatural...

GT5's sounds are recorded when the car is being revved in neutral then sampled etc etc, which is why they sound average.

Having said that, I'm not sure if any other games record their sounds with the cars in gear.
this just makes me wanna buy this and ps3. those graphics are just mzing. sometimes when i watch vids of it i forget its a game
forza game play + gt5 graphics = epic game
It bothers me so much how in GT5 the driver basically wont turn the wheel, like it looks like the steering wheel is limited to 10 degrees....
How stupid is that?

thanks
The wheel on-screen in GT5 will go to 200 degrees, but when playing with a pad the game compensates for sudden inputs by only moving the wheel a certain amount. It allows use of the full 200deg rotation when sliding.

Pretty clever system imo.

(Early versions of the game had 720deg onscreen but this was removed before release.)
the grip sounds now are really realistic in heavy braking into a corner. I didn't played the game since april and was surprised.
But the sound doesn't match so well when drifting... still weird as always.

The engines are good. The ITR sounds orgasmic up to 8k rpm!

Gameplay wise (speaking of timetrials only, no racing) is pretty good. I do miss the setup tweaks of LFS, making the suspension stiffer or jumpier would make me see how good it is.
Right now in time trials, If I want to reduce the oversteer from the really oversteery cars, I can only change the front tyres to worst ones.

I don't know how it's done but definitely not synthed in a sense that LFS's sound is.

At least I think I can hear the same drawbacks from the sound that usually sampled sound has.
Damn, I'm glad I play Live for Speed after seeing this video. Look at the steering wheel! I would get a lot pissed playing this game, I hate when the steering wheel doesn't turn enought, even if its just virtually and the car wheel is turning right.
Calvaquino, I agree with you.. The car sounds are way too lifeless, they must be synthetized. CSR does work a lot better than these GT5 sounds (thought I often prefer to hear LFS engine sounds + CSR detail sounds [breakes, shifts etc], and I couldn't use it on Patch Z I don't know what's wrong)

PS: I found a bug.. It was so easy to spot this one: 1:21 you can clearly see the steering wheel doesn't have shadow at all. His hands are just in the air, when talking about shadows. And it repeats over and over again everytime his hands shadows appear on the cockpit.
Also, not really a bug, but the track is way too shiny, doesn't look like a track, looks more like plastic for me (PS: as always, I saw this video with &fmt=18)
Jeeeee that bad tyre squelling is still there the one in LFS is WAY better but other than that GT5 looks good but i wish it was for the PC
About the tyre squeal: Yeah LFS's default one is much better, but i use a BETTER one than =D i think you can find it on miscelaneous addons... (its soo nice that i sent it to my email and my ipod xD)

About the sounds: Well i thats what i said in first post. But when we talk about the LFS sounds with CSR, im with you Velociround. CSR detail sounds are much cooler to use than the engine sounds, i say that, because, personally, when i use CSR engine sounds to complement the LFS ones, it does sound nice, but looks like theres a car BESIDE me doing the sounds, and not my car...
And the LFS engine sounds arent that ugly. they give alot of info for a sim and the do sound natural, and act as they should on most (if not all) situations. The ONLY problem i see with them is the quality of the sound itself.

BTW as velociround pointed, heres the bug:
