No, you get it permanently. No additional costs. Ever. Except if you want to enable the high-res skin option. But that's extremely cheap as well, and you don't need it to enjoy the game.
The S2 fee is a one off fee.
The Hi-res skin thing is another £1 for I think 500 Hi-res skin downloads, but I've never used it and nor do I care for it

There are a few older versions floating around on the net ('nuff said there), but there are lots of compatibility problems (especially with Vista), and they are nowhere near as good as today's LFS. Not gonna patronise you by telling you to "get S2, it's worth it!", but it is
