Thanks for your amazing input - i'm wiping my OS soon and I was going to borrow an external HDD to back-up 60GB of files, but instead i'm going to upload them to the internet. That would only max out my connection for 12 days non-stop.

Perfect solution, cheers!

Yeah sorry about that, for me its Laptop to Desktop, but for the Topic Poster its Desktop To Desktop, But like jakg said why are you spending money when you can do it anyways?

Just setup a workgroup on both computers. Select the folders you want to send over, then on the new computer clcik the folders and move them onto your computer.
Simple.
Regarding the issue of people saying I should have a Ethernet port, I am going to say what I have said a couple of times already, I don't have a ethernet card(PCI) although I have a ethernet port on my motherboard, I checked this when I went to my step mums as that is where my new PC is, so it has a ethernet port but doesn't have a Ethernet card (PCI)

I know I can share files over the internet but a Crossover cable would be handy to have, I will stick to the Crossover cable. I did think of sharing the files over the internet, I also thought of FTP but I doubt it would of worked and it would also take longer then a Crossover cable or sharing on a network would take.

I will probably go out tomorrow and buy a Crossover cable and transfer the data on sunday as I am moving from my house to my step mums house tomorrow so wont have time.

...but...what is 30gb in size that a ~15 yo has??? you into music or you d/l a whole lot of cartoons Sam?

i suppose it goes without saying that all important or irreplaceable data or songs or pictures must be written in stone(backup).

It's always a good habit to backup files on DVD every now and then, and believe me the earlier you start backing up the less of a nightmare you'll have later on.

would it hurt to burn a few DVD's? just backup all important files.

It would be usefull to know to help what your into ie. 30gb of what?

None of this is porn, but it's not that hard to realise you have a lot of crap on your PC...

Add all my work (200MB ish), Music (10+GB), pictures (1GB+) etc, and you get a lot of stuff...

You will not find any porn on my PC's hard drive (Use the internet lol). I need to transfer over loads of Dance Music, films, apps/software, games and setups and skins from LFS. A few more stuff I need to transfer over aswell, there is between 20GB and 30GB of Data, I have a lot of films on my PC so that is what most of the room is.

Edit: I would burn a lot of my stuff to DVD but I don't want to go and buy some more, I have used all of them to save Data on and make back ups of game bought etc... I know it is good to back up files that is why I am going to buy a external hard drive to put a lot of the data on, might buy a personal media drive as my PC has the bay for one.
Crossover cable worked fine, was actually only about 10GB's of data, thought it was more, thanks guys for your help anyway.
