Try to pour anything with artificial sweetener in their way (aspartame). If you find the nest, pour it onto that too. They will be gone in a matter of hours or at most a day. And no, this is not a joke.

Reinsulate your house! We've had ants in the house for as long as we've been here. Could never find where they were coming from. This summer, I've been tearing the siding off the house, tearing the sheathing off, adding insulation to the walls, and resheathing and refinishing the cedar siding to put back up. We got to the bedroom walls and when we took the lowest course of siding off, finally found the ants.

We hit the area with raid and haven't seen an ant anywhere in the house since.

Funny you mention it—must be ant season here. After reading this thread last night I went downstairs to find a stream of ants cleaning up in the kitchen... we never have ants.

Ants usually come in the summer or when the outside is too hot so they find shelter in the house because it's cool.

I found a little bit of Raid and sprayed it at every place they came from. They came back...
So I'll try boric acid next since they're supposed to carry it back to their nest and kill themselves and everything in the nest.

By the way, the ants come from everywhere underground. Usually they come from sidewalk cracks and the soil. It's crazy because there was a huge (looked like semi-transparent black cloth moving) battle between two ant colonies nearby two houses. The best thing I could do is kill the colony(colonies) that are around my house and hope that when a new colony takes it's place, they don't bother going near the house.

Easy, lay a food trail to a neighbours house you don't like.
