new (unoffical) LFS CD release (planned)
Hi

Very interesting news/interview @liveforspeed.dk (thread http://www.lfsforum.net/showthread.php?p=91556#post91556) - THANKS!

My first release do have some "bugs" - for the missing tracks: big sorry!
(check this thread: http://www.lfsforum.net/showthread.php?t=4690)

I hope the most of them are solved in the new release... should be (the missing tracks certain). But, the movies are a point of critism too. So, if anyone think, his/her movie should be on this new ISO, then post it here (or better: post the link here to the uploaded movie @lfsnews.net).

Are there some tools/mods do you don't want again on the ISO? Please tell me/give me feedback!
With ISO, do you mean like an CD-Image?

/me tired and don't understand much right now
in the nicest possible way...

What the hell are you talking about?
Yes, a custom-content CD-image. An original version of LFS S2 with track and car specs, movies and other extra content. The image will be downloadable from the net so you can have your own CD version of LFS.

I dont know if it had been suggested, but how about including car setups (optional "install" ofcourse)? At least Bob's "Easy To Drive" sets? I think this would be great help for newbies, as the default/race_1 setups aren't that great. Hmm?
Bearing in mind a new patch isn't far off it might be worth waiting before releasing a new version of the ISO (which was great) that'll be obsolete quite quickly.

Great suggestion, easy drive pack definetly should be included, but not the setupfield setups, too many, and too unstable for alot of people!
Sorry to be *insert whatever you wanna call me here*

But is this even legal?
Yes it is legal - all mods and textures upgrades on the disc, the respective owners haven given permission for them to be used, and the LiveForSpeed demo is available for download and redistribution, the CD is free to download, and you can only use the demo part of the game unless you pay for it, no-one is making money from this CD....

It's a CD created by the community for the community!
Why wouldnt it be? Pasci got the permission of authors of everything included on the CD.
Thanks for the fast answers, this is the first I'd ever seen of this ISO idea, from what ive now read it looks really great.
You missed the huge (and I mean really big) thread a few weeks/months ago when Pasci first stated his intention, and had all the details checked, permissions asked etc.

Even if he hadn't asked permission, he's not making money from LFS, so legality wouldn't come into it, surely?
I guess it all depends upon what the Developers want for LFS, do they want more people to visit another website and download a CD, (which makes the process of selling a product easier), [Please note im not suggesting that the idea of this project is to make money] or do they want more hits on thier own websites and people downloading the LFS product that way.

Not illegal as the product is not being sold, but it sure makes it easier for anyone who (would) want to sell it, to do so.

I didnt miss the thread, I read through it and thats what prompted me to ask for some confirmation.

AFAIK you still need the permission even if your not charging for it. Distribution rights are as much about ensuring that old versions aren't being distibuted as anything else.
I also agree that you should hold off until the new physics patch is released. It shouldn't be too much longer and the old ISO is still 'good enough' for now.

I'd like to see Run Riot and Don's 'slo-mo' vids included on the new disk.
Nobody wanted to host the ISO (except via Torrent; many thanks for pushing this distribution way ).

I was able to make it available on my own domain/hosting. I do not get any money/cent for this (by the way: I would have otherwise a more favorable hosting). It costs me therefore a little bit more every month to make it available on my website for the community. But I make it gladly; for the community

Do therefore I think, that's only fair to publish the link to my download page and not directly to the ISO, isn't it? Also, I can see if anyone use the link.

Of course, I want release a new version after the next LFS update; not before - If anyone want the updated autorun, send my an e-mail.
edit: never mind
Now, the great new patch T is out -

I'm already working on a new implementation of car preview (Show room; I think, the bf1 isn't the last new car! ) for the coming ISO version.

I will remove the graphical mods (desert/snow) from the new ISO - Did anyone install the mods? It's a really cool work from the author - but after the release of the first ISO, I don't use the mods again.

Sounds good! Please send me the URL, so I can download this and could ask Bob for permission.

The slow-motion vid looks very cool - I agree - should be on the next ISO

The Run Riot is also cool... but big! :-(

I'm not sure they are needed anymore, the race_S setups seem to be quite OK.
Anyhoo, there they are:
