I think the tunnel is a neat idea, especially if you're sitting directly in front of it, getting to see a F1 car come directly at you (almost). The track looks nothing spectacular, however it couldn't be worse than the Valencia track.
Night racing has been called a gimmick, and that may well be right, it is however a gimmick with consequences.

I dont know much about Singapore nights, having never been there, but I know nights over here are cold, when I was doing endurance racing the track temperature fell away with the night quite suddenly, which caused havock with the tyres and lowering the ideal tyre pressure (which is a bit of a problem mid-race!). F1 won't have the day turning to night, but the track temperature will be much lower.

A lower track temperature reduces grip, and with the rainy season in full swing over there, there's a good chance the track will be green too. This could result in a processional race.

However what interests me is whether Bridgestone have a tyre that likes to run at very low pressures, and will all the cars and drivers cope with that?

How hot/cold is Singapore overnight?
Well, the turn 18 is a bit confusing on the 1st pic, if you miss it or go wide you end on the river/sea/lake?
Its to try and give the drivers an incentive to stay on the track.
like I said, they're old pics so it probably won't be like that.
I think this track will be much better than Valencia. Some of those pictures look promising.

Is it just me or does the start/finish straight look very narrow?
Looks like its gunna be pretty interusting but damn some of those turns are tight! And theres so many of those tight turns! lol. Should be nice.

At least it keeps you from starting ****ing ridiculous threads in the Improvement Suggestions forum, but I'd be happier if you weren't allowed to start threads at all.

Because you're as thick as pigshit.

Bring the infractions/bans.

being firmly in the tropes probably a good bit warmer than blechum or silverstone in the wet
Quote from duke_toaster :What about if it rains and the glare from the water, FWIH floodlit races have to be red flagged then?

I predicted that last Christmas

Quote from JO53PHS :Well you never know what will happen.

Maybe there will be tons of glare from puddles in 1st corner and then everyone won't see where their going and there will be a massive pile up and all cars will be wrecked, and so the race will be over. But the downside is that whoever had the idea will get shot if this happens.

It might go well

Quote from Becky Rose :How hot/cold is Singapore overnight?

At this time of the year, a comfortable 25 degrees Celsius.

"Cold" will not be a problem. But the rainy season might be, especially when combined with a green circuit, night, floodlights, and lack of driver familiarity.

The track itself will be completely green, as it has never been raced on. This event will be the first time that this circuit will be driven in competition (Formula BMW Asia, Porsche Carrera Cup Asia, Aston Martin Asia Cup, and of course F1).
I think we should run a poll to guess how many cars will finish the race if it rains. If it rains at the start I think we will see a big pile up, Spa style.

I dunno. If it's raining at the start, and not just wet, they'll probably start behind the SC like they did in Monza this year. Which I don't like personally, but I guess it is safer.
Was the big Spa crash the last F1 race to be Red Flagged at the start? I was trying to find this but haven't been able to find a list of red flagged F1 starts. It used to be entertaining seeing the crews prepping the spare car, driver jogging back up to the pit-lane.

Is it just me, or by and large, the modern F1 racers/races have seen much less T1 drama than the mid-late 90's?
I think this is going to be the coolest race evver

What happens in the event no cars finish? I would think half points, in order of who failed last....

Not that i want that to happen. I dont, i just wondered.

I think it would only be half points if no finisher reached 75% distance. If the leader did, then full points would be awarded for the car completing the most laps, then working backwards down to 8th accordingly.

if i am correct there are no more spare cars allowed this season, crash at start means race over for you. Correct if wrong

You are correct, I just remember it as entertaining (as long as no-one was hurt in the incident leading to the red flag).

Well Europe 07 was restarted but on like the 4th lap.

You're allowed to try and repair the car in the delay IIRC - it depends on how big the crash is, a new front wing is pretty easy to do but not everything else.

I think no-one gets any points unless the race gets red flagged (due to the two lap countback). However, if there was a massive pileup and not that many cars running they would repair them with as much parcel tape as needed to try to complete 90% of the winner's distance to be classified, ergo score points.

Might have something to do with the fact that most tracks today have endless tarmac run-off areas. So boring...

Oh, about the Singapore GP... looking forward to it. Maybe a McLaren track? And Alonso said the Renault is faster than BMW now... Looks promising.
Lets just that this race isn't as boring and miserable as Valencia was, and it'll be an ok race.
