Alright i just downloaded S2 after 4 months and this time i cant use the ESC for anything. i have to use Shift + P for pits and Shift + J for join and to get out of the game i have to either get kicked out (usually never works) or shut off the computer...

I downloaded it from filefront if that helps at all.

Please anything will help. I miss LFS!

Try downloading a fresh copy from LFS.net. If that doesn't work, then try a new keyboard.

i have this problem also. but im not sure if its just where i place my keyboard whilst hooking up the wheel. even though its the same distance the ESC just wont work properly, takes about 4 or 5 hits.

Aw.. In that case he could use " /leave ".. Shift + O for options..
What else is there, maybe spectate..
Easier to buy a new keyboard, or go to Options>Game and bind a button (like.. F1) to "/Press ESC".

You should always download LFS from the main site, when you download from a third part you have no idea if the files have been tampered with. Third party sites are an easy way of obtaining viruses, trojans, spy ware and maul ware. LFS may refuse to offer you support if you have not obtained the software directly from them.

Ok, my bad, I assumed (bad thing to do) that filefront was another spin off of download.com or one of the other heavily infested sites. Is that the only LFS download on filefront?

Yes and funny as it may seem, CNET is also infested, even tucows is infested. Its a true but sad fact, some idiots bogus software always seems to get a link on these sites.

Some wireless keyboards are terrible for this kind of thing. If your receiver isn't well placed, the keyboard will seemingly partially disconnect and it takes several presses of keys to work... sometimes one press works, sometimes it takes 5.
All of this sounds much more like a wireless keyboard issue than an LFS one.

The worst is when you alt tab quickly before the race restarts, to check on something then your wheel un-calibrates without you knowing.... until the restart where you realise

Instead of typing '/exit' you could just press Alt+F4 if you want to quit out of the entire game

AFAIK alt+f4 will just put you back to the mainmenu.
