Aren't you a bit arrogant? No need to show off mate... Take CSU1's advice.

and you don't learn from your mistakes, it seems. no i am not 'arrogant'. you were the arrogant one when without knowledge, came to conclusions about what i said.

Calm down georgina, you'll do yourself an injury.

Don't lecture us on what we can and cannot say, because the following post written by you isn't exactly of high informative quality.

Quote from george_tsiros :don't get a series 8 nvidia card.

As you can see, there is no reasoning behind this statement, and very little thought has actually gone into this post.

Now on the other hand, the post written by NitroNitrous below was actually informative and provided references as to why he believed them to be faulty. (Even if it was in Spanish)

Quote from NitroNitrous :I am sorry but I agree with george_tsiros. Why? Because those cards (only for laptops) are faulty. It is very possible that if you buy one, it will stop working in a short time, Nvidia admitted it

So, Gloria, why don't you stfu, re-calculate your quality of posting, and don't try and threaten the community. What could you possibly do about it?
Mr gracious almighty one.

He was right, and a bunch of posters who flamed him in an insulting tone because they thought they knew better. They didn't.

Yeah the post could of been of better quality, but meh.

MR_B earns an infraction for failing to meet our forum's minimum standard of contribution. Abusing people when you should be apologising to them and conceding they were right.. well, that just sucks.

The problem lies in die/packaging material set.

I was hoping the for problem with these notebooks to be more trivial like poor air-flow or dodgy heat-sink, but as Dell have said it's much more serious and down to bad choice of materials.

This made me laugh

So, anyone tell me how on earth these bios updates are using nanorbotics? is quite a leap in customer care...

Correct me if i'm wrong, what use are software updates when key materials in the gpu fail under sudden temperature fluctuations???

The bios update has only one objective; lower power consumption of the gpu and hike up fan time which results in prolonged death.

I wonder if the store warranty is nulled when you update

I know store warranty will have run out after prolonged death

Anyone thinking of selling their notebook to me?
#33 - Jakg
The BIOS updates are frankly, rubbish.

They either boost the fan speed (w00t more noise and slightly shorter battery life), or underclock the GPU (w00t it sucks even more for games than before) or both (w00t²).

ever since software has a lot more control over the hardware, bios updates are not de facto rubbish.

(this one, though, probably IS rubbish)

BIOS updates can cure lots of things, but these ones certainly can't cure shit.

you can kill it yourself if you really want.

NOONE HEARD ME SAY THIS, GOT IT???
I had another notebook, not this computer with the tower and Nvidia 8600. The notebook had intel integrated and it played fine. I don't know why you guys give it such a bad rating, but I used to get 40-50fps mabey up to 100 sometimes.

XPS M1530 A09

You got me scared there for an moment. But if I checked correctly, I have a XPS M1530 A00. So
I read that it's only the 8600 cards. The problem is the constant heating and cooling, causing a part to fail. The rate of failure is far more common in notebooks because of the constant on and off, so they don't last as long as the desktop versions, which aren't subjected to this nearly as often. I have a 8600GT factory overclocked plus I OC'd it even more, about a year, and never had a problem, at times it hit nearly 90C, tough cards I guess, when they work.
I have HP laptop with NVidia 8400M GS, and it does 100-120 FPS at 1280x800 without AA and 16xAF, and 30-40 fps with 8xAA and 16xAF.
I use Acer with nvidia 9300M and lfs runs great with it.
