16/32GB Ipod Touch Or 80GB Ipod Classic Or Something Else?
My 2 year old 4GB Ipod Nano is now getting too old for me. When i got it all was good Nice likle cover, all clean no scratches and 4GB did fine.
But now the cover has been ripped to bits, all of it is scratched, and i just cant fit my 35GB(And constantly growing) library onto it for obvious reasons, and id need to put some videos on there too.

So ive been looking at some new ipods to get and ive got 3 possible options.

1. 32GB Ipod Touch + A Nice Case + Convert ALL my songs from their bitrate to something lower so that i can fit more songs on their + dont put some albums i dont listen to onto it.
2. 80GB Ipod Classic + A Case Perhaps.
Or perhaps you know of a different Media Player that i could get?

It would have to be around £200, Play Music+Video and have quite alot of space on it.

So What Do You Think?
Save the money. You already bought an expensive pc which you couldn't even afford
I'd recommend the Creative Zen Vision: M 60GB, if it wasn't similar in thickness to a brick. The 30GB one isn't THAT thick, but it doesn't have enough storage space for you.

Both the 30GB and 60GB are bricks by Ipod standards, but I've had one for about a year, and it's been great. Video conversion is a problem, but I found a nifty little application (which will convert anything you throw at it to run on the Zen) after weeks of searching the intar00bz . Don't be fooled by the Creative converter supplied with the MP3 player software. It's complete crap.

I did nothing, my dad has done that

I have about £200 myself, ish.

I'll have a look at that, and ive already got a b-e-a-utiful convertor for video so that wont be a problem

Anyone going to post their opinions on this?

I think i'll probably go for a 32GB Ipod Touch.

Seeing as after converting all my music the total size is around 16GB now. So theres lots of space space for movies and games.
So now i jsut need to find out some things about the Ipod Touch.

Does it have an external speaker?
What is the point in jail breaking it?
What cool apps should i get for it?

And finnally ive read on the apple website they have some new headphones that have a mic built into them, would i be able to use this mic with some voip software on the ipod touch to talk to people?

I'll probably wiki some of these questions as well but its best to know what other people know as well

I have heard that not all the Ipod touches come with the Software, you are suppose to get a disk with them that has the software on, I don't know if this is true but it is what I have heard, the software adds things like youtube etc... Well thats what I have heard

NON EXISTENT WORD (Yeah i know you meant to say it like that, but i cant find any other errors in your spelling )

What is the point in jail breaking it? If you jailbreak you can get themes, emulators etc
What cool apps should i get for it? There are tons of apps you can get, take a look at the Appstore on iTunes and see if theres anything you like

I have an ipod touch 8gb and its awesome

Edit- about the Voip, it is possible there was a jailbroke app that alowed you to do that, not sure what it was called but im sure u could find it

Ahah that answers most of my questions
Emulators? Pokemon here i come!
Is the battery time for your ipod about the same as stated on the apple website?
36 Hours for music and 6 Hours for video?
Well, the battery life for me is pretty poor, but that seems about right i guess, but it does seem to go down real quick.. but when it gets down to like 20% it seems to last long lol, Also about the software thing, it comes with Youtube, the software update (Free with the latest Firmware) adds , Google maps, Stocks, Mail, Weather...

iPod Touch is a mediocre PDA with a big HDD nothing more.

If you want to listen to music (and really thats all most people ever do) it's overkill.
A friend of mine wanted a mp3 player so i sent him in the direction of Creative and there zen 16gig. All i have to say is its very nice and works well does everything really and its the same size as a credit card and about 4mm thick. They also have a sd card slot for adding extra space . If i where you i would have a look at them m8 you also get a 32 gig version. Managed to get the 16 gig from play.com for £99.99 and free delivery

Good
Yeah i've noticed on most things when the battery gets low it suddenly goes on for ages.

I'll be using it for everything it does, listning to music, watching videos/films , playing games, voip'ing, surfing the tinternet, on youtube, and msn at home (when i leave my computer i tend to go on msn on my phone, but for some unapparent reason theres no signal around my bed, so touch + wifi is an excellent thing for me.

Yeah i looked at them and they look pretty good, especially with the SD card bit, but the battery time isnt as good as on the Ipod Touch, and it doesnt look as nice IMO. Plus the whole getting loads of apps on the Ipod Touch appeals to me, which is something the Zen's dont have.

Why not just buy an iPhone?

I love my Sony Ericson K850i WAYYYY too much to get a different phone.
The iTouch is nice to use, but I think its all a bit pointless really:

1. Takes ages to convert videos, which is probably the main advantage of the big screen. Why oh why can't you let us use AVI apple??

2. The downloadable apps seem to be mostly for novelty. Great, I can tilt the device to virtually drink a carling...

3. The on screen keyboard is built for people with impossibly small thumbs. I can hardly type a word without pressing the wrong key.

It's like a full feature phone but missing the bit where you actually call people. If you want a iTouch I'd get an iPhone instead, but its pricy.

If you want a player with lots of space and can play music and videos easily, you could get an archos. Loads more space, no time-wasting converting your video files, plus has a touch screen and wi-fi.

my $0.02
Personally if I just wanted an iPod I'd get a classic for sheer storage capacity and price.

However I needed to get a new phone so got an iPhone, haven't used the iPod bit of it yet though. No need for me to tell you they're good at what they do, there are thousands of reviews around. Wouldn't buy the iPod touch however, just seems like a toy. I guarantee most people that buy them use Safari and the other gadgets for a week or so to justify it, then get bored of it. But no doubt the pulling power of pissing around with it for a week will win over the practicality of the classic.

What I really find good about the iPhone (and I assume the iPod does this too) is the corrective typing. You can bash out a lot of text very quickly and it corrects nearly everything really quite well.

I've already got a gorgeuos phone that i dont want to replace, and if i can find out if the new apple headphones with built in mic work as an input on the Ipod Touch then i can use it for calls as well. Which will be useful when i go on holiday in a few months and dont want to get charged billions of pounds for a 1 minute call

If you want a player with lots of space and can play music and videos easily, you could get an archos. Loads more space, no time-wasting converting your video files, plus has a touch screen and wi-fi. I'm looking at that, it looks great, but i still seem drawn towards the iTouch. Ill see if theres any of those in town on monday.

I was thinking about getting the classic, but the touch screen in the iTouch jsut gets me horny so i had to go for it.

I would use safari alot more then jsut for the first week, whenever im out and i find a free connection ill probably use it.

Edit: not to mention constantly using at at home and at friends houses.

Ah missed that. I was just messing around with my dads touch for a bit and it was mostly for web pages that wouldn't have been corrected anyway. It would make texting much easier though

Oh oh oh, ive found something cool, using a programme called joiku i can turn my dads Nokia N95 into a wifi hotspot meaning i can then connect through it to get to the internet, great for use when were out and about with no wifi. And will be even better for the occasional use when im on holiday at christmas.

And i've found out that the headphones that have the mic in do indeed work with the ipod touch allowing gorgeuos voip.
If you are going to watch lots of videos then go with the 32GB Touch becuase it has a bigger screen then that Classic but if you arn't going to watch that many vids but your going to listen to lots of music go with the Ipod Classic
