Quote from Hyperactive :One other game I hear people recommending a lot is the Jagged Alliance (2 or something), but I have never tried myself - has anyone here?

JA2 is great!
It´s world ain´t huuge like Oblivions but the gamplay is polished. There are no problems with leveling (Morrowind) or items (Oblivion). The story unfolds in a way that you won´t run into impossible enemies.

That's just scary...
haha!!!

was just wondering guys.. hows resource hungry is the game?

my computer is 4 years old with a 3 year old card

athlon xp 2600
asus a7n8x board
radeon 9800pro
1gb ram

it runs most game still pretty well with aa and af on but is starting to fall behind very quickly.... will oblivion run ok on my machine with atleast high setting (assuming it has "highest" as the best setting)

cheers fellow gamers

I actually tried this one even tho i never like western RPG's, tolkien etc. It runs reasonably well on my system, apart from certain special effects which really brings the framecount into single figures, assassins being killed in the beginning spawns some short effects that literally halt my PC.

Celeron D 3GHz, 512mb, Radeon 9550SE.

I recommend Chrono Trigger or Breath of Fire in your SNES emulator of choice, for a real RPG.

Climbing some mountains in Oblivion was fun for a while tho.

Think more like medium to low settings. It's impossible for me to get a smooth framerate with the texture size setting on high. Even on medium my framerate frequently drops into the single digits.

My settings are:

HDR off
bloom on
medium texture size
960x600 resolution
everything else set to default

System specs:

Athlon XP 3000+ (2.1GHz, Barton core, 512KB L2 cache)
512MB PC3200
GF 6800GT 128MB
oooo sounds like its a b***h to run...... will give it ago at somepoint, it looks stunning. I am not a big fan of RPG's though i did have morrowind but never actually completed it even though I've explored nearly the whole map... ohh something springs to mind, anyone here who in Morrowind managed to get to the top of the highest hill where you have the cave in which you meet 3 gods (fire, water, ice) i think it was. I remember answering their questions and passing the test but what was the reward again? was it some magical power?

sorry for the randomness of the question lol just one of those things that sticks in my mind and needs answering

Oblivion scanned my hardware and set stuff to high settings (1024x768). even with no AA or af at that resolution i see very little aliasing. i've only played the game a few hours I havent tried to tweak anything because things look amazing as is and i dont really feel a need to.

I would post a pic of my character but i cant figure out how to rotate hte camera so i can show his face.

my specs
sempron 3000+ at 2.3ghz 512L2 cache, x800gto 256mb flashed to x800XL.
768mb ram 190fsb (380)
windows xp pro
In third person view, hold the change view key (default is R). In the Tab menu with the stats tab open (so you don't get that one part covering your character), hold left click.

Mine's a Nord, mostly Fighter but also partially Mage, mostly for healing spells. I had been focusing on other skills besides those necessary for fighting and was having a pretty tough time. Now I'm level 23 with the following stats:

Health: 339
Magicka: 90
Fatigue: 323

Strength: 100
Intelligence: 45
Willpower: 52
Agility: 74
Speed: 57
Endurance: 97
Personality: 44
Luck: 50

Highly proficient with a blade and heavy armor, my character wields a Daedric Claymore (two-handed) and a mix of Daedric and Ebony armor. My fortune totals 32,000 gold. And believe it or not, I still have some trouble with multiple enemies. I haven't even really touched the main quest, just traveled the roads, raided caves and forts, and did some random quests in a few towns. I fear my first oblivion gate at my level...

yay!
i think im level 16 now and doing sneaking and assasinations and stuff im almost maxed out on a few of my stats, but ive left out a mission from AGES ago with the theifs guild, i did a mission where i had to steal a staff from the university to piss off hironimus lex, then it says i have to wait and follow him, and no map marker appears, and i really want to carry on with the theif missions...

where can i find this fella pls?
lol i just made it to level 3 . my character is a bit of a jack of all trades but i'm basicly good at fighting with swords, heavy armour stealth acrobatics and i'm working on my destructive and healing magic spells.
i've only had the game for 3 days i think. I'm about to go find some proof of the gray Prince's nobility.

The gray prince is a what now?, hmmm...with a lvl 9 thief/mage/fighter I should really crack on with the main quest instead of jaunting about the countryside mixing potions and hunting deer.....

Dan,

No need to. That's what's so good about Morrowind and Oblivion. I developed several characters that had nothing to do with the story in Morrowind. Just look at a street and think "Hey, why not go that direction?" and see what awaits you.

the gray prince is the arena champion. He's only half orc and his father was some guy of high status and i'm supposed to find proof far far west (crowhaven). hunting deer is pretty fun . i dont even bother using stealth with the deer. i just chase after them shooting flare spells and arrows. I love how realistic the aiming is with the arrow

if i kill a guy in self defence... will i get in trouble for taking stuff out of his house? i've taken a few things and sofar the guards dont seem to care. the guards even helped me kill the crazy guy that attacked me.

i wonder if i can sell the stuff..
That depends..if you go into your inventory, you may see a little red hand in the lower left of some of the item icons ( that make sense? ), which means you have stolen them, and honest merchants wont buy them.

Ayrton, I think you can find hieronymus in the temple district ( maybe he walks around on some of the others as well) not sure. You should get markers though, if you make it your active quest.
ATI Radeon 9600XT and Athlon +2400, would it run with decent FPS and graphics?
Maybe that card wasnt that bad purchase..well ages ago. Buying this...just must make sure I dont have it before friday
boo, just tried it. and after the very first save game the sound goes into an endless stuttering loop

*shakes fist at sound drivers*
Looks boring.
Quote from danowat :Nope, completely single player, no online modes at all, which pleases me.

Yeah, the hardware req's are quite high, but my 2 year old, P4 3.4ghz, 1GB ram and ATI X800pro still cuts a great deal of mustard and can run it at full detail at a good lick.

Dan,

I played the TES3 Morrowind...
Got tired of it though, since it has no multiplayer funktion.
It would be an even better game with multiplayer-options
Got this the other day, havent done that much (only level 2 lol) but its starting to get addictive, and i love doing the arena battles :fence:
