Like learning over again?
So i played the demo for a while, back when xrgt was in demo. i eventually learned how to handle the oversteer of rwd cars. drifted, etc. they then took it out. i played a little xfg racing, could never get very good, but did manage to get constant 1:37's

today i bought s2, and tried the other cars.

its wierd.

they all spin out, and have loose rear ends. just like back when i started.

i tried some sets, and well ive got some progress done, but was it like this for everyone?

edit: maybe im just throttle heavy
Are you using a wheel or a keyboard?
If youre using a kb, set the button control rate a bit down.
If youre using a wheel just go very, very easy with the throttle.
Try downloading some of the setups from here:

You might find one that's a bit less tail-happy.

Also remember that you can't just floor it as you come out of a corner in a 450bhp rear-wheel-drive car, as it *will* spin every time. Be a bit gentle in the bigger cars.
I haven't been driving XRT for some time... a lot of time actually, and switched to FZR with slicks... now everytime I drive XRT - it's simply like driving on ice for me... so, yes, you're not the only one with grip problems
Its just a learning curve, I've been driving FXO *alot* recently and now iv tried to get into even the LX4 and i thort ' woah is this the right set, but its just my driving, few laps and i was back up to normal(read slow) pace

You've just got to learn that Road cars wont and dont grip as much as GTR's

Espesh' if there unbalanced when you put the power down, ie if you go throught a chicane and try foot down half way through, all the weight of the car is at one side so the rubber will loose grip.
#6 - Dac
yes, was exactly the same for me. driving the BF1 was impossible, now i am just a few seconds of a WR using race set. its not so much throttle control but everything, you have to be on the right part of the track with the right balance etc and then good throttle control. you will get it eventually though.
If you are suffering from too much oversteer try and minimise the amount of steering lock you use. Only turn the wheel as much as you need to get the car to turn. No more.

Also, unwind the lock as you begin to apply the throttle.

You can reduce the oversteer the set gives you by doing any of the following things:

Reduce the diff power lock
Increase the diff coast lock
Increase the front rollbar
Increase front bump damping
Increase front spring rate
Reduce rear rollbar
Reduce rear bump damping
reduce rear spring rate
Increase rear toe in
More rear downforce
Less front downforce

Only 1 or 2 clicks on each thing. If you can't feel the difference from one change then you need an adjustment elsewhere.

Make sure you don't overheat the rear tyres. Once you are suffering from oversteer the rears get hotter and you end up in a vicious circle.
Quote from squidhead :I haven't been driving XRT for some time... a lot of time actually, and switched to FZR with slicks... now everytime I drive XRT - it's simply like driving on ice for me... so, yes, you're not the only one with grip problems

I feel your pain.
After a few laps with the FZR the XRT doesn't turn, stop or accelerate.

Is the optimal line for a slick tyred GTR different compared to a TBO?

BTW my sets for the XRT simply aren't working after patch Z. The rear is somehow very loose compared to before. Though, everyone else says it's much more stable
Its not too bad going from FZR to XRT. Just consider these things:

- Brake distance - will be harder to stop than the FZR.
- Turning - XRT doesn't have the grip levels of the FZR so turn in ealrier if its understeering your going too fast or its a bad setup.
- Tyres - Although it doesn't have the grip levels of the FZR its alot more forgiving so don't be afraid to get a little sideways action going on entering a corner.

Just take these into consideration before driving it and it shouldn't take more than 10 laps to get used to it again.
Depends on the car. The Raceabout is twitchy even at the best of times, the LX6 is a bit of a lairy beast, and put a rear wheel on the grass under throttle in a single seater and you'll be pinballing off the barriers almost every time. Be gentle with the controls too. Chucking a car into a corner with gay abandon and mashing the loud pedal might well work on the smaller cars, but it will get you all shapes in the more powerfull cars. Another thing to remember with the turbo cars is that the boost is quite accurately simulated. Some cars take a bit of time to build boost (called 'lag'), and what might not spin the wheels at low boost probably would at high boost.

With regards to the controllers, keyboard/mouse mostly fails. Either get yourself a wheel or a controller. I recently bought an XBox 360 wheel to try (I got it for £5, so if it was poop I hadn't wasted lots of money) and now I'm used to driving with it, it is infinately better than the Xbox wired controller I had been using.
