What time is racing on tomorrow at?
9:30 and 12:30.

I'm not sure about Ireland but last time the Octoshape official stream was turned off in the UK.
Beijing is so fast.....
Guoan are quite good, David Rigon is the surprise package this year. It's very possible they could win the title this year, especially given Doornbos's engine problems last time out at Donington. Shame about Duncan Tappy spinning, I really don't give two sh*ts about football itself but SF as a series is pretty good.
one thing i've noticed is that, apart from a couple, football club colours do not seem to make a good colour scheme for single seaters.

cant help wishing they had provide overalls for the drivers that looked like they were wearing the teams first strip shirt, shorts and socks with flesh colour for the bits on the leg between shorts and socks

i think the only point is there are these clubs who can afford to run a series...basically just for the sake of it, and reintroduce nice sounding V12 formula cars, and hopefully some good racing.

apart from that, I really can't make out the teams on the track, just a cluster of colour really, and frankly some team ain't exactly "super", nor does the racing team has any relation to the soccer team.
I think the clubs don't have to spend much (if any) money. I've read somewhere that SF basically just borrows their names and colors - the brazilian clubs wouldn't have any change to afford a racing season.

Speaking about the races, I told ya! Pizzonia is pure fail.
Bumpity bump, Round 3 at Zolder this weekend.

Live streaming on their website plus Setanta Sports 2 (I think). Click here for stream (I think it's showing a looping video when it's not being used. Region locking may or may not work.

One "substitution" : Instead of Andy Zuber, WSR man and local driver Bertrant Baguette will be driving for Al Ain.

These times are UK times, the times on the site are UTC.

SATURDAY

12:00 - Qualifying programme should start
12:10 - Qualifying starts

SUNDAY

9:40 - Race one starts (programme starts at 9:30)
12:40 - Race two starts (programme starts at 12:30)
This is kinda the same principle as A1, (driver wise) they are mostly ex-F1 guys or ex-GP2 guys, etc etc
it will be interesting to see the long term effects of super league and A1 on each other and the viewing public, both race going and tv.

i suspect that either the two will get their act together, ensure their calenders don't overlap if possible and jointly educate the general public into supporting a team rather than a driver ( as is common with endurance fans, australian holden or ford fans etc), or they will compete with each other and possible lead to the failure of one or both series.

from A1's point of view they really couldn't have picked a worse time to launch a new chasis and engine which is appearing to have supply and reliability issues, on the other hand they have brought in a famous name which will no doubt help with the marketing.

superleague so far appears not to have delivered the kind of close thrilling races and atmosphere it needs though some of that may well be due to the rather low quality tv coverage which is really crying out for an experienced production team and comentators (for the uk coverage) that don't trip up over their words and impart more excitement into the game, sorry match . in the future it needs to survive, build audiences and then somehow attract some more big clubs, if man utd was in there competing with liverpool, you could almost be sure that both sets of fans would be more inclined to watch. also if it can conentrate its races into a short summer season between the beginning of may and the end of july, it has more chance of catcing the club fans' need for sport.

A1 struggled at first but has built year by year, if superleague can afford to operate at a substatial loss for a number of years then it has a chance, if it expects to make money within 3 years then i suspect it will fail. if superleague had launched when the idea was originally mentioned in the motoring press ( i can't remember when but leeds utd were in the premiership and one of the names rumoured to be connected so thats pre 2004) then it would have been the fresh new idea but now there is A1, grand prix masters tried and failed despite having the "big names" (and waistlines ) to attract the fans
well, on my mind, A1GP is the better series. If I remember the crowds at Zandvoort last weekend standing in the pouring rain, waiting for the race, and then the Prime Minister, saying the words "gentlemen start your engins" it was realy great by the fans at the track. Superleague Formula has a facinating Qualifying Format, but it only has got some local relevances. For Germans it is only attractive to those, who like Borussia Dortmund, or another froreign club, somehow. It is nothing nationwide, like A1GP is. I think A1GP will survive with their concept. Superleague Formula refering to what tinvek said, missed the time to start, sothat they could be "the" Formula class, wich introduced the "Drivers are not driving to crown a driver's champion but a team's champion"-concept.
To build up more contact to motorsport fans, Superleague Formula should really think of having street races in some of the team's city's. With Vallelunga they do something in that direction, as Vallelunga is quiet near to Rome. But Jerez is not really close to Madrid, and Estoril is closer to Lisboa. Corinthians-, Flamengo- and Beijin-Fans have about NO contact with their motorsports teams. They could use the Autodromo Carlos Pace in Interlagos and the Beijin-street-circuit... I think a new series should firstly get fans at track and then fans at the television screen. And in another point i have to agree with tinvek: They should really use the summer season. Football/Soccer Fans are feeling a depression during the summermonths, when there is no continental championship, exept you're living in Russia and having a March - November season. Maybe (a big maybe) they should have something like a show race with some of the team members. I'm thinking of production cars of a certain class, with roll cage. A bit like the celebraty race at the Grand Prix of Long Beach.

Let's see what the future will bring.

Round 4 at Estoril this weekend!
Quali in under fourty minutes!

EDIT : No commentary on webstream?
The qualfily style is not really fair...
the slow lucky team's grid can be better than unlucky fast team
It is exciting though. Bear in mind if Guoan's time is fastest out of the eliminated in round 1 they will start fifth.

EDIT : Umbrellas up?
yep... drops of rain
the qualifying still doesn't really grab me, even though it should.

not sure if i've posted this elsewhere on here but what i'd like is once the cars are paired off for the 1/4 finals, instead of having head to head qualifying, why not have a 1 or 2 lap race, the fastest car on pole and the winner goes through to the next round, it would add to the preasure on the drivers and make the rounds more exciting. Also it wouldn't have to take any longer than now, after finishing, the cars could be allowed to return to the pit lane through the pit exit whilst the next two came on to the track through the pit entrance and then come straight to the grid without doing a warm up lap.
Doesn't the ISC require that races have formation laps? Two car races would appear quite empty. I think that the SF format is better than most though. It would work well with touring cars IMO

there was the top 12 qualifying in the German V8STAR:

first there was an 20min open qualifying on saturday morning. Saturday noon there were the top-12-qualifying... 3 grids of 4 cars raced two laps with madentory pitstop... the best time set was declared the polesitter. saturday evening then there was the championship race of a given distance, a 5-min pit window and an competition caution in the middle of the race.
FC Porto is going to kick ass in this League, but they're lacking luck...
Bump

Porto didn't do too well

And Basel fawlty again...(Sorry :P), with more tech problems.

Round 5 at Vallelunga, in a week's time...

I don't like the so much piston engine...
Quali about to start for Round 5, Valleunga.

FYI. Race 2 is live on Eurosport 2 today at 14:00 CET. First time I'll be watching this series although I have seen a demo run of the car and it looked and sounded quite nice.

EDIT:looks like race 1 was on from 11:00 to 12:00. Somehow missed it when I was checking the schedule on eurosport.com.
