I dont know much about them but I know its getting pretty bad. I look at all the stocks and most are in the red and very few are in the green...Not looking very good.

What do you guys think?
were doooomed , or something , im a noob at s/e aswell so... lets see what else some 1 can come up with .
It's gone tits up but it will invariably go up again. Economic cycles - no need for running around like a headless chicken.
i know itt will , but what if i feel like running around like a headless chicken , you know its kinda fun .
To be honest I couldn't care!
It's all their own faults.

I think Lewis Hamilton hasn't noticed anything is wrong.

no, it's always the bankers faults...!
Quote from J@tko :Oh dear - bad jokes thread please

If I go in that thread I have to pay you a toll, so no thanks!
It's only bad if you've got investments. Otherwise, you can sit back and laugh at the lemmings as the grasp at what's left. That's not to say that we may all notice some changes, but most of us will fair just fine.

Just for kicks, I did a little math. The great depression saw the DJIA drop for three straight years with an average yearly drop of 29%. This time around, from October 2007 to today, we are down 39%. Take that, President Hoover!!
It has started with the Financial markets and in 2009 it will kick the real economy right into the abyss.

It's the biggest crysissince 1929 and knowing how it ended I wonder: What are we gonna get first? LFS S3 or WW3
Well looking at all the political tension between countries and the whole nuclear crap I think it's gunna be WW3 and I think it'll be the deadliest war of all because of nuclear weapons.

I don't think the economy will be the cause of the war though. All I know is that in these extremly financially unstable times, the gas prices have dropped around 40 cents/liter here... I think Canada is doing well enough for now and will survive this crisis pretty well.
Fear is a much stronger motivator than greed! Thankfully though greed has it's way for the majority of the time

Are you implying that S1 ended the great US depression?

Things'll get slightly more expensive for a year or so, then it'll go back to normal. US is no longer the absolute dead-centre of the financial world, so the Asian markets which aren't as badly affected will help soak up most of the fallout. The only places that are going to be majorly affected is small countries that have finance as their main economy, like Iceland. Iceland is pretty much f***ed at the moment.

Agreed about the Iceland thing.

the thing that sucks is when the economy is well, you can't just keep your money in a safe because of the crazy inflation, then if you decide to invest it you have to be pretty damn alert of what you are actually buying, in this case some banks actually had taken money from what the people thinks are going into their saving account, and bought these problematic mortgage related investments without actually telling the client.

I mean if the banks decide to cheat, who can you trust? it's not just another usual economic dip, it's the economic system failing at a fundamental level - playing bets rather than investing with common sense and expertise.
All I know is that I wish I had some spare cash to stick in it right now, it may get worse but one thing is for sure it WILL recover. The rich buggers that are temporarily loosing fortunes I couldn't care less about, it's the poor people that have saved all there lives for a decent pension that I feel most sorry for. Bankers/Wankers same thing.

[OT]Isn't that screendump from a GB title based on Fort Boyard? Mainstay of Channel Five originally. French television seem to like it. Basically the same as The Crystal Maze which Channel 4 started earlier

Game was crap. Of course, I didn't download a ROM and use an emulator

exactly, i'm going to be sticking a couple of hundred a month in there now, not a lot but it's the best time to buy for a (very?) decent return when things recover, i was lucky and got rid of my shares just as the big drop started so lost about 1% on £5,000 but i was able to rebuy the same shares for £ 3,500 and they've already gained 10% since then
Thats what I was thinking too now. Shares are probably pretty cheap now but you have to play it smart because some companies WILL shut down. Gotta make sure they'll survive the crisis too :P. I'd want to invest aswell but I just don't have the money. :P
