Against locking threads
When i see some threads where there is an arquing over something, id really like to see how it goes.
Latest example of harjuns watercooling thread. Suddenly a moderator came and its closed. Why? let people settle it and im very interested in such arguments.

I agree with locking threads when example someone has a question and it gets solved and then mod locks thread.
But these off-topic argument threads shouldnt be locked, we can see that discussion was going on and people had something to say.

Now im bored and cant post my reply. shame....
There's no real need to see how "Come down here and I'll hit you" pans out.

Because people are stupid and cross the line. Myself, at times, included.

The moderators are there to try to keep the status as quo as possible.

Besides the thread in question deservered to be locked.
Maybe its just me, im kinda interested seeing arguments from side and look how it goes, i know it may sound a bit ...erm weird (cant find a word) but well okay its just me then.

Let it be then.......
This isn't a public forum, it the LFS dev's web site, they don't want customers to come here and see threads full of people insulting and threatening each other. If the forum was just to mess around in, then maybe, but I think you'd be the same if this was your business.
Nah I think it's human nature, that's why you get crowds surrounding fights in the street etc - however there's no need for it online. Heated discussion yes, but you have to draw the line somewhere.
as far as I know the lfs forum is a 'public' forum i.e. you have to have lfs to post on it, but lfs.net is the development site...the forum is just an offshoot

I think u will find satisfaction in watching soap series on tv. Not only do u get new drama every day, but they also have lovely boards where u can argue about all kind of irrelevant things.

LOCK THIS THREAD!!!!!!
If you didn't lock certain threads arguments would roll on and on on and on on and on on and on on and on on and on on and on...............

Harjuns thread(s) is(are) a prime example, that(they) would have gone on and got worse.

Anyone can sign up a forum account, having LFS is not a prerequisite.

There seems to be a thing about 'free speech' on internet forums though...forums are not the democracy people believe them to be. They are dictatorships, with the rules determined and enforced by the admin/mod team.

If you don't like it, don't let the door hit your arse on the way out.
Maybe if i report it for upsetting me a few times. Hurl abuse at somone, then maybe just maybe... and if i add some originality and honesty and a alternate view that disturbs others.. who knows.

Seriously though its not an easy job moderating, but saying that i do think there is a tendancy to lock then discuss openly about any issues within a thread that would usally be locked. Sometimes just closing a thread for a hour or two with a mesage to remind others to cool off or think about what they are saying, before closing somthing permanently.

Personally i am against the locking of threads. Unless its a sticky or notification of course.
a thread should be locked once there is nothing productive being posted/produced from the users who visit/post in that perticular thread.
that given, any thread harjun starts should be locked as soon as he makes it. that lad talks so much non-sense i think he is fluent in umpa-lumpa
