At the cost of hitting the wall and blowing a tire, a mistake that would have ended a F1 driver's race 99% of the time. He got lucky, that's it. How many other F1 drivers have smashed off a wall at Monaco and continued on to the win? He's young, eager, and doesn't know any better.
this is senna after he out-braked himself in his debut in Monaco and smacked a kerb big time
He got lucky as it didn't damage his car so much that he didn't go on to finish the red flagged race.
It was the defining moment for Senna that race and he on;y got that far because, as with Hamilton, he got lucky!
This is not comparing Hamilton, and Senna in driving ability just showing how EVERYONE gets luck.. just some people forget who and hwen some drivers get it...
1) Hamilton. Unless the FIA screw with the result.
2) Kubica. Very good in the wet and in a good car.
3) Kovalainen. Not the fastest bloke in Woking but he doesn't make mistakes.
4) Nakajima. Beneficiary from the safety car lottery?
DNF) Massa. Useless in manly weather.
Yes it is very obvious. Sadly you cant really see the tyres when you're sat low down in an F1 car, they're rotating at blur speed, and the accompanying flatspot is shaking you and your vision around like a peanut in a food blender.
I recall him saying in an interview somewhere that he "knew" the tyres were bollocksed, and that it was unfortuate that he hadn't slowed down more....
Not that it matters who said what, I still think it was his fault. He was coming into the pits for new tyres, obviously he knew the ones he were on were completely wrecked, and surely his race engineer would have said that his tyres were down to the canvas, it was clearly visible to his race engineer, as we saw it, and they see the same television feed as we do.
That doesnt make it Hamiltons fault he didn't pit.
Although it's hard not to laugh when looking back at how he spun on the pit entrance.
It's a shame to see Hamilton floundering last time out in Japan. I hope he gets his act together. He deserved the title last year and threw it away of his own accord. This year he hasn't been as good throughout (though still impressive on ocassion), but Massa has been living on gift horses from the FIA and Raikonnen is no longer "the also-ran in the fastest car who didnt screw it up", he's just rubbish.
Kovalienen (sp) is an embarassment (Get de la Rossa in the car ffs, Ron!) and Kubica drives for a team that's so wrapped up in 2009 I wouldnt be suprised if they forgot to put the last two GP into their diary and Kubica started the last race in some dusted off historic F1 car he's borrowed with a couple of mates as pit crew.
Out of all the driver/team packages i'd say Hamilton/McLaren has been the best all season. Kubica isn't in a decent team, so it's not his year.
I would really love for Massa to not finish this race and Hamilton to win the race. Hamilton would of won the WDC and may give him the boost that he needs, but I think it will get decided in Brazil, who knows...
of course not but its still his fault that he went too fast into a wet tight 90° left (probably dirty too... certainly sounds dirty) knowing that all he was driving on is canvas
hes easily the most deserving this year though and the only one worth supporting at this point
Imho, it's pretty clear as what is going to happen
If it isn't wet the Ferraris will win by a clear margin, Louis being third, Kibuca and Heikki fighting for the rest. Lonso seems to be a bit unknown factor, but his last race proved that the Renault is quite fast when it needs to be. Lonso along with Kibuca can cause some serious issues to the faster cars. If there is chance for safety car the drivers like Hiedleft, Weebreb, Veltlet and Robserg can suddenly find themselves very high on the results. Although Weebreb seems to be hounted by some pretty nasty stuff, he just manages to impress without actually getting any points for it. As for the next race, I don't think there are enough excorcists living in the people's republic of China to get rid of all that bad luck so expect dnf
If it rains though Haemitlon will be very strong. Not only because he is in the fastest wet car but also because he can drive it fast in all conditions. Drivers like Masaa or Räikkönen are not really anything special on wet and with Räikkönen especially it seems to be all about him getting the car set up for him perfectly. If it rains I'd expect lonso being strong. As for other drivers, Buttocks being fast on rain, haha - the car is pos and the driver barely average . Kovalainen really struggeled in Silverstone and he doesn't seem to be able to put down the fast laps when al data says he should.
Massa for the win if no rain, if rain then Louis. Kimi might be fast on dry but not so sure if he can beat Masaa. Didn't put spoiler tags in this post but mark my words
Dont get me wrong, I totaly agree that Kubica deserves the title. The problem is that BMW dont, I meen, totally dont, deserve to have a driver in one of their cars win it. They've not got behind Kubica at all and seemed determined to give Heidfeld, who couldnt even qualify the car, his first race win so they could get behind a German for the title.
Sorry, but any team that invests half a year into driver development of Nick Heidfeld, when their other driver is winning, just isnt going to win and doesnt deserve to win. Heidfeld has always been a "mm yeah sortah" driver, quite quick, but never really dazzling. This year he faded, and they invested in him! Door, boot, oh look its the dropkick murpheys...
I cant bring myself to back Kubica because BMW so totaly undeserve to win anything it's impossible to resolve the conflict. I'd rather Hamilton won, even though half of me thinks he's going to flop like Tim Henman on a good day.
i can't understand the heidfeld bashing. he is not at the pace he used to be and had some bad luck, but he still got more points than heikki and was only 0.15 seconds slower in Q3 than kubica. ohhhh such a drama......
last year heidfeld had 61 and kubica 39 points. this year heidfeld can still break this record as he already has 56 points. kubica is racing an awesome season and i hope, that he will get the title.....,but calling a heidfeld a mediocre driver is in my opinion wrong. he is a great overtaker and definately got a great pace. i am sure he will get better results soon.
and i think it's a good decision by bmw to keep both drivers.
btw. i don't care about the team, i think it's not important in which car a driver races. it's definately affect his speed, but not if i want him to win or not.
i think youre wrong in your assessment of whats going on at bmw this year probably because theissen rarely gets interviewed on english tv for voice reasons
anyway right from the start he always said that the goal this year is to win a race which they did fairly early on and having achieved that goal they immediately decided to put all their efforts into next years car (not a bad decision since they seemd to have perfected their system to electrocute other drivers fairly early on)
right around that time heidfeld started to fade so while i havent heard anything from theissen id hazard a guess that the goal ever since was to get the 09 car up to championship winning speed and develop both drivers to be fast enough to compete which with kubica being tremedously quick already meant they concentrated all their efforts on heidfeld which seems to have paid off... and from listening to theissen you can tell hes very fond of kubica
08 was never supposed to be a challenge for the title and theyve said so right off the bat... it just happens to be that massa hamilton and räikkönen are so rubbish this year that despite concentrating on 09 robert is right up there
Theissen gets interviewed quite regularly on british television. More than Jean Todt and Flavio Briatore. And theres nothing wrong with his English, it's fine, so you're wrong on two occasions! Becky is right, BMWSauber seem to believe Nick is really good, when as Becky said, he's not blisteringly quick, Kubica on the other hand, IS blisteringly quick, IF the BMW's are competetive.
actually i thing bmw have been very clever with their drivers for next year, at the moment the cars and especially the tyres suit kubica and not heidfeld but wwith the new regs and tryes next year it may change the other way, this way bmw have both styles covered and both drivers have the ability to adapt to a sufficent level to pick up points by driving in a style that doesnt suit them .
also with new regs, the one thing that you need is race milage and a driver that can bring the car home when others are breaking theirs, and heidfeld is good at that, plus he was regarded by wiulliams as one of the best drivers they ever had for feedback and technical knowlage which once again is what you need with new regs.
Oh i'm not saying Heidfeld is rubbish, i'm saying he hasn't ever set the world on fire and Kubica has - they got a real star and BMW are busy pandering to Nick because, well that's where my theory falls down - I cant find one logical reason why BMW have taken so much time to work on Nick's problems driving an F1. Send him to a shrink if he's got problems, but ignore your race winning young star who's handing the big guns their arses on a silver plate with sugar encrusted Dolly Mixture topping, and you deserve to lose.
Kubica has been quite blunt about BMW's focus on Nick's problems, and it's a view that has been echoed by that twat I have to listen to screaming and shouting orgasmic come-ons to Hamilton when I watch the race.
iirc ive yet to see one in the many races ive watched on itv... either way he gets interviewed a lot more on german tv
not hes english his voice
simple... theyre in f1 for the long run and their championship winning plan spans over several years of development which includes keeping and developing both drivers into world championship contenders
it just so happens to be that only one of them really needed help this year... although theyve certainly done a lot of work with robert over the winter when he lost 10kg while staying fit enough to drive an f1 for 2 hours straight
the point is their goal is a slow but consistent buildup towards a wdc winning package much like audi did in lmp... you know were german we like elaborate plans towards 1000 years of world (championship) domination
What's wrong with Theissen's voice? He sounds like a normal 50-something male.
As for Heidfeld, BMW needs a strong development driver, and Heidfeld is one of them. He's not too bad in races either. He's not incredibly fast, but his experience helps him to exploit opportunities for points.
From their official '2008 FORMULA 1 SINOPEC CHINESE GRAND PRIX RACE FINISHING POSITION HAT' I reckon the FIA will pull out the slip of paper with Kubica on it first, Ayrton Senna 2nd and Juan Manuel Fangio 3rd.
F1 is really fun these days. You watch the race, then go to www.f1.com and watch the time penalties being applied!
