Modern computers aren't that far advanced.

Yes, you cant do things backwards the world would collapse!
Hehe the only people that get "sheltered" round here are the devs

People keep asking for things because they know that, eventually, they will get something, and it will obviously be something that they have paid for already. Which leads to "I've paid for it, tell me about it and I want it yesterday" sentiments.
I'm sure the devs know what the score is, which is why they've sadly been getting quieter and quieter over the years.
so how do you set Web alerts?
through the sms alert? i was on LFS desktop and the web alert window is just the grayblue color with no options in it
Quote from Serpentine :Sorry Orion, but I find the above comment a tad offensive, and not a little arrogant. You shouldn't take a shotgun approach like that just because you disagree with a couple of people.

Serp.

Yes it is offensive, and one can think I'm arrogant (even though I'm absolutely not), but IT IS TRUE

Or can you tell my why only (roughly estimated) 5-10% of all LFS players are using this forum, and <5% LFSworld?
I mean, all info about LFS can be found in this forum. But there are so many people who dont visit it, and say things like "LFS is dead" or "the devs are having a nice time with our money, being damn rich". Everyone who visits the forum regularly, will know that none of the above statemants has even a lic of truth in it.
People are maoning that there is no info about LFS, but we have so many new and interesting things in this forum every day.
They just dont read them.

Btw, I dont disagree with anyone, some people just dont know where they can find help. We have seen many users logging in here and posting questions that have already been answered like 200 times. This is not bad - actually every question is great, and every user who this community could help is great, but the answers must be accessible for anyone, also for those, who havent tried to type "LFS" into google yet.

And not doing so, isnt really a proof for intelligence if you ask me... does this really sound that arrogant?
Or, of course, lazyness. People use google and only click the first 1-3 results. If they dont directly find what they want, they give up.

Click the SMS alert tab in the Live Alert window:

btw just out of interest, does anyone know how many people have actually bought LFS and s2? i was wondering the otherday how much the devs actually make out of LFS. It was just a thought, in no way am I trying to have a go at the way LFS has been developed. But to be truthful and honest when i was licensed as s1 i was wondering what is happening with this game and whether the devs continued the development but that was because i wasnt involved on the forums and lack of news and patience made me worried. As soon as i have joined many question i had were answered and become clear and now i am fully behind the way LFS is being developed and wouldnt change a single thing. What those three guys are doing is trully amazing!!! keep up the great work.

The problem is though many people will see games like gtr, rfactor, gtr2 and say lfs should be like them, have a massive team and get developped quickly but what they dont see that the way those sims are made is purely to make money and lots of it, also the support from the teams is lacking after their product has been released and it doesnt feel like a proper community. LFS on the other hand feels like a community which is what i really like....

Anyway back to the first question, how much money has been made with LFS? 24 pounds per user assuming they have updated from s1 and if not 12 pounds then.... and how many users are there? someone must know

mad
enough to continue the development

Iirc, Scawen said already a could of months ago, that the amount of S2 users is somewhere between 10,000 and 100,000 racers.
When you take into account, that they have been working on LFS for around 5 years now (when was Black&White released again?), and substract all the spendings for Servers, etc., it's not really much money for each of them.
yo Orion,

Hats off to the guys!!! They do it beacuse they love it ohh and US and all those earnings over a 5 year development must disappear pretty quickly id imagine..

i bet the new house updates werent cheap either

well hope in the end they will get rewarded in some way for all the great work they are putting in!!

100 000?! I remember reading 10 000-20 000 and S1 licenses another 10 000.
Quote from deggis :100 000?! I remember reading 10 000-20 000 and S1 licenses another 10 000.

Yep. That's what the man said in October. I'd hope for some change since then.
Quote :100 000?! I remember reading 10 000-20 000 and S1 licenses another 10 000.

Well, lets calculate then. lets say 15000 S2, plus 10000 S1? We get to 40000 S1 licenses then.
40000 * 18,- Euros = 720000 Euros

720000/3devs=240000/dev

240000/dev/5years=48000/dev/year

Tax, costs etc.: 50%
24000/dev/year. Well, that's quite a normal to lower income. Besides it is all based on some speculative numbers. What if it's only 20000 S1 licenses overall? Etc. etc....

Taking the fact into account, that all of the tree work like 60-80 hours on LFS...

What is the bottom line then?
They did not earn enough yet, to leave for Fidjis

I hear this a lot. I believe that ISI, the development house behind rFactor, is made up of just 7 people. Sure, that's more than the 3 that comprise the LFS team but not by much. Blimey! Games, the team behind GTR, GTL and GTR2, on the other hand, is large. Here's a list of their team members: http://www.blimeygames.com/about.php

even 10,001 is between 10,000 and 100,000
as i was writing an article about lfs in january victor told me that over 20000 s2 licenses are sold. should be a bit more by now.
