Camber problem
Hi
i wonder if somebody notices variable live camber values. for example when im working on setup and i set camber and let say it's -2.00 after i make few laps and jump to pit it's not -2.00 any more and the values are quite different even 0.50 difference. is it just me or it really exists?
Yes, this is because of the casters of the axle (mainly front).
There is around a -0.5 difference, and you can see it in the tires part of the setup menu

Also, if you jump, you can damage the suspension, which will affect the camber
Are you making sure you `drop` the car after changing camber settings?

it has nothing to do with caster mate because im not takling about comparison of live camber when im in pits to camber while driving.
yes i always drop it few times. then i do few laps and jump to pits where all damage is reseted so live camber should be the same as ive set it before stint but sometimes it isnt
It's called suspension geometery. Live with it, work around it.

WTF? What are you on about?

@Aid: Have you turned on the driver or the fuel mass to be added before or after your driving? I can't think of another scenario why camber should change so drastically...

he doesnt know what he's on about
bbman: fuel and driver has no meaning if you keep it Off on On all the time. im talking about screen when u'r in pits adjusting camber not suspension screen that u can switch on while driving (in this case camber might be different) but when i set camber and it show for examople -2.00 then i run few laps and jump to pits (shift+P of course) then i can se the camber is different on the same wheel (as before no driver no fuel) so with the same setting everything should be the same but it isnt, sometimes it shows different value it could be -1.74 now. from what ive notices it happens in early stages of adjustments because this camber change can happen when i change camber quite a lot, lets say camber was -4.00 and i decided to change it to -2.00 for longer stints (im talking about live camber all the time) when i set it to -2.00 i expect it to stay at that value but like i said after few laps when i come back to pits value is different if it was 0.0x difference its ql and i can understand it but is difference is 0.30 thats no good. and i dont understand it why is it a bug? it happened to me many times however not every single time.
I don't know what you're on about? The camber doesn't magically change after driving some laps and pitting. I can see you getting confused about the live camber, though.

The live camber is that of the tire contact patch + whatever modification is done by the suspension geometry. When you change the static camber from -4 to -2, you have to "drop" the car after doing the changes, because the tyre rubber will bend due to the surface friction and falsify the live camber display.

You can easily verify this: drag the camber slider to minimum, then back to 0° static camber and note the live camber. Then drag the slider to maximum and back to 0° again, see how the live camber is off by quite a bit compared to the previously noted one. Tyre deformation at work.

Thankyou.

Shift+L is your friend in game, shows all LIVE suspension figures, moving parts, wheel/tyre contact blah blah. handy for drag racing getting that camber correct on launch
I know, didnt' say anything. He explained it better than I ever could.

Shift+L. Wow. I did not know that after 2 years!
I found it accidentaly ages ago, it just appeated on my screen one time in BL_Carpark.

I was like "WTF IS THIS", and it took me about 30 minutes to (guess) find out how to turn it off. It was a few more days before I realised what it actually was and how I could use it

AndroidXP: no im not confused about live camber, and after camber change i always drop the car. camber difference would be explained easly if i wouldnt drop it man. well everybody makes mistakes and expecially me so i'll keep eye on it however im pretty sure i always drop it.. if i didnt drop it in this cases (most likely) thing u've set are correct

Maybe you have your wheel rotated. Caster affects camber.
