How to put dead zones into analog controls?
I have a Logitech Dual Action gamepad (looks like a PS2/3 pad). The analog sticks usually work great in racing games but they are way too touchy in LFS. Is there any way to put dead zones in the controls or reduce the sensitivity? Nothing I change in the game seems make a difference except reducing the steering lock of each car to like 15 which makes it pretty hard to get around the tight corners.
The remove dead zones (no/yes) feature in Axes/FF don't seem to function for me either. Same joypad here.

Make sure you recalibrate new controllers in LFS first
Controls Menu >> Axes/FF >> Recalibrate Axis

Put your steering lock back to full again and use these settings:

Controls Menu
Wheel Turn: 90°
Wheel Turn Compensation: 1.00

Misc Menu
Analoge Steer Smooth: 0.90 (Higher will give even slower steering/less sensitive steering)

You may be able to change the deadzone and other axis properties with DXTweak 2

thanks, I'll try those suggestions out.
The tweak program unfortunately doesn't do dead zones in XP but the analog smooth setting did help. Still pretty hard to keep from turning the wheel full lock and under steering into the wall but it's at least usable now. I guess you just really have to have a FF wheel to use this sim properly.
Yes, you have to be VERY smooth when using a JoyPad.

That DXtweak is a good tool. It would be more helpful if it adjusted axis curvatures. Instead it adjusts limits so you get a less sensitive stick, but it only goes partial full-lock and so less range.

Personally I find the use of dead zones worse. You have to move your stick to get any movement and with a dead zone you don't know where that point begins. It's up to user preference though.
