Hi,

I am a cop on the [TC] City-driving servers, and was wondering if this application was possible to make;


basically it would be an application that contains 3 different siren tones, that you can cycle through, using the horn button, just like in a real emergency vehicle.

I have seen some pretty amazing apps and would like to see if this can be done.

It's easy enough to make an addon that changes a file, but there are complications. Even if the horn files aren't locked when you're on the track, I think you'd have to re-join the track anytime you'd change the sounds.

More crucially, even if it would work perfectly at your end, it will make no difference to anyone but yourself, nobody else will hear the changes.

yeah, the app would just be for my enjoyment, mainly off-line. At least if you can cycle through the sounds, then that would be enough.

You can change horn sounds with Shift-H. There's 5 default sounds. If you want more, you can replace those 5 horn files with custom ones (remember to back up originals).

If you need more than 5 horn sounds without leaving the game, you'll need a script/program to do it for you.

i know about Shift+h, but was thinking about something that plays the sirens automatically, then i just tap the horn button to change the tone. and whether its possible to do.

LFS Strobe plays sirens automatically, and you can change betwen "sirens" using Shift+H

yeah, i use LFS strobe and it is good, but i was dreaming of an app that cycles through 3 horns/sirens that i can change by pressing the horn button, like a real emergency vehicle.

You can assign a wheel/controller button to press Ctrl+F8 /shift h in the ESC >> OPTIONS >> Controls menu.

But then you need another wheel/button to actually make the horn go. You can't make LFS do two things with one button unfortunately.

IMO - the best thing you could do is program your wheel profiler to do this. If you don't have a wheel profiler program, try using JOY2KEY which is a fantastic free program which you can make any button on your wheel/controller press up to three things at once.

eg, set it up to do the following on the press of a button on your wheel/controller:

• SHIFT
  
• H
  
• B
  

So each time you hold down the horn button it will change the horn type AND keep holding it and it will keep the horn sounding. As a bonus, pressing NUMLOCK will also sound the horn in LFSstrobes and won't adjust the horn type.

g25 you can i have cycliing commands press a buttons switchs between phaser/yelp really handy but you can only use to horn on TC horn 4/5 so you wont be allowed to use all 3 sirens

You have g25? Why not make it press shift-h 3 times the second time? Essentially make it skip horn 1,2,3. Surely with g25 profiler you can do most anything.

That sounds fantastic if it works, not sure if that can be done though, probably is.
